Governor lifted the hours restrictions for now - so not illegal.

So between you and G, the company can't make anyone happy. First, they can't make deliveries fast enough to please their customers, then others say they shouldn't be working overtime to get the fuel to their customers (many, whom by the way, precipitated this issue by NOT thinking).

I don't know how to reconcile the two. It's not like they can just hire extra drivers since the towns and private contractors have snapped up anybody that can remotely qualify to drive a plow/sand truck. And, I would expect (although I have no real idea) that those delivering oil and/or gas have to have specific training, and perhaps a certain amount of hours of truck driving and a proven safety record before they are allowed to transport flammable materials.

They are in a no-win situation here folks. I've said before that I have an issue with the company, but it seems as if they're dammed if they do and dammed if they don't at this point.

Okay, I'm done with this issue.

Let's get back to our regularly schedule programming - BEER! :coldone::drunk:

Short sighted decisions are being made by decision makers that are not involved in getting the work done.

You obviously are not Italian dealing with a family issue. Expect a horse head with an empty bottle of vodka next to it

    Yup. :D

Agree, it's tough to pull a CDL class-B driver, w/ HazMat endorsement, "out of the hat". I'm sure the guy had about umpteen hundred stops to make after that one. Was just a little ironical when I signed on last night and saw the post, after heating up the Camry's rotors earlier in the day.. Could've been any company's fuel truck.

Now THAT is programming I will happily subscribe to! ( And Christmas Day Kung Fu movies .. With Turkey. )

    :coldone::coldone::coldone: :handshake:

Be safe out there today East Coast peeps! It's gonna s.n.*.w. .. And be chilly. :shiver:

I think B thinks we hold grudges. Rather rare for me, but when dealing with family, you bet I do ;)

I think the oil delivery issue can be improved by having increased home storage. Have a warm winter, what do you do with the drivers you hired for a bad winter? I have no idea how oil companies could staff for erratic weather.
Just like wood burning, you plan ahead and have it at point of use. We know how to deal with that with pellets. We got a year's supply at the start of the burning season.

Thanks for all the birthday greetings. It was a quiet day overall. I did go out and buy a couple filled propane tanks for the the new generator. Went to supper at Texas Roadhouse. Had a nice steak and a cold beer. Went to bed at a good time..
Please stay safe during this storm. Most things can wait until the storm is over.

Larry, how will fuel consumption be for propane vs gas on the dual fuel? We will be looking at a new generator for Kittery and will be considering the one you got from TSC.

Did the wife's day off with her group get cancelled? I can't imagine going out in this storm. I have the weather channel on. Looks like the whole east coast is shut down.
Normally, when we have a huge storm like this, the plow doesn't even attempt coming in this road until the storm is over. The main road stays open but the hills are so bad I wouldn't recommend traveling on them except in an emergency. Too many unskilled drivers thinking they have to be somewhere.

Just like any service industry, you suck it up and keep em on or you will pay for it in the end as it will get busy again.

We do the same with service technicians. Quiet times, busy times and slammed times. When properly staffed the slammed times are rare but manageable.

To be honest, I have no idea. But the concept is good. I have read the reviews. SmokeyTheBear was going to get this same generator. I am sure he did his homework. I like the idea of propane. I have two huge tanks outside for the house. If this works out good, I might get someway to connect into those tanks. For now, I have two of the 20lb tanks. No worry about gas sitting this way. I have several refill stations within 3 miles of here. I am doing this one the right way. Having the connections installed so I can safely run the whole house. By using propane, I won't worry that my gas is being dumped into a snow sled or ATV. The electric start means no yarding on a pull rope. My son in law is a master electrician. He said I bought the right machine.

They don't hold meetings in bad weather. She was still sleeping when I hobbled down the stairs to do the warsh, etc...
