Back where I am from in Charleston SC on the coast they have got 5 or 6 inches of snow and still going !!! Here in the upstate we have nothing. The coast is colder than us right now. Charleston shut down, roads closed, grocery stores closed, town freaking out. !! It will be around for days.

Me I am burning persimmon and red oak. 20180103_162815.jpg

Current temp 7°F nor'easter rolling in tomorrow, only expecting 5"-8" with a little wind, but Maine and the coast will get a foot + along with some gusty winds. Stay safe!

Man, what a difference 20* makes! We warmed up to 21* today and it was easy keeping the house warm. I let the fire burn down the coals twice today and then raked it out. I also restocked the garage with wood, loaded another truck bed full, and took the Christmas decorations out to the shed. It was a nice day to be outside.
But we shouldn't get used to it. The bottom drops out again tonight and it stays that way until Sunday.

Ash to the left, mulberry to the right. This is for my wife to burn tomorrow while I'm at work.

Tonight will be oak and hedge.

    Oak roaring in the stove...

I took the backhoe off the tractor and put the back blade on, we are under a blizzard warning.. Only 8-9" supposed to fall, but super high winds..

On a positive note, its supposed to finally be in the 30's tomorrow, before going back to the teens with almost negative wind chills friday and saturday..

Not sure - it came in this truck, filled twice. My frequent wood hookup and all around great guy had too much work and farmed some out to this climber, but he had to travel to get to the job and needed a place to dump. I was all too happy to volunteer!

The last time I was in Charleston I met my daughter there and we walked around quite a bit and ate at a place down a few blocks from the water called Poogan’s Porch. Good food. Stayed at a Hotel a little ways away that had a rooftop bar. That was something. We sat and talked, looked out on the City and had a drink. And they had a guy playing acoustic guitar and singing songs. Then watched fireworks they were having at a stadium not far away. Really a cool evening. Charleston is a nice place.

Back down to 14F tonight. The high of 28 really felt like a heat wave! It was nice to come home to a warmm house and mostly empty stove so I could clean it out, then load the wheel barrow with 5 heaping loads to bring on the porch while only wearing a sweatshirt and not willing in myself to die from the cold.

Know poogans porch. I bet you were on the bar on the roof by marionette square. There a few hotels there around it. One is the or use to be the Francis Marion Hotel. But if not there there is a bar on marion square on a roof, the building it is in use to be a Hardee's and small 80s like mini mall type thing. Internal walk and small stores off on the sides. Ok anyway back to how cold you are.

Weve really warmed up! We are at -11c/12f right now. I have a stove load of larch about ready for the air to be turned down for the night. If I wasnt so busy with work right now Id be ice fishing.... My wise wife says I just have to schedule a day and go for it.
