Exactly what I was hoping to not hear.
    Hmmm.

I am really, I mean really glad you have your stove on the way. I went through that only a month ago after a couple years of moaning and groaning. My stove is up and running, we are warmer. I was definitely pointed in the right direction making the change. I wish you the same for your results and satisfaction.

Dave, does this mean you will have a chance to get the new stove installed and be able to use it before the season ends?

    It's due here on Tuesday.
I'll have it on the hearth and burning very shortly after it gets here, come hellz or high water.
We have about 2 more months of burning to go, unless it stays chilly, so yeah, I'll have time to start dialing in the SS burns.
The hearth was built with this stove in mind just about 3.5 years ago. New pipe was added also.
Fairly simple to move the Ashley down, and the 30 up.
    I'm a pretty patient person......

There will be a bit of a learning curve but I think you will love it. When I first ordered my T6 I was a bit worried about overheating during shoulder season but once i dialed in a process it's really not that hard. Yesterday I went 16 hours between (16 in the morning and 30 at the night reload) reloads and last night I reloaded at 9PM and the stove wont need reloaded until probably tonight and the house was 73 degrees. Good thing about these stoves is due to the fact they are so deep when you are down to the last 1/3 of a load if you don't open up the air they will burn for a long time and carry glowing coals for even longer. Getting excited for you can't wait until you have it up on the hearth!

You can order the pipe from Menard's. The long telescoping section isn't stocked at any Menard's I have been to, and it gets shipped to your home free. You may or may not need an adapter, and make sure you get the finishing bands. There may be one packaged with the pipe. Actually, I think I ordered two, and one came with either the pipe or stove adapter. It's up there still.

The last time I did that, we got the stuff in about four days.

Well, according to the shipping co.'s site, it's due in Mesick on Tues., so I don't know from there.
Perhaps another co. takes over from there. Dunno.
It's in Columbus as of sometime this morning.

Although I've been "studying" this stove for several years, I'm sure I'll have a question or two once it gets running.
Thanks Jeff. I got all my other Selkirk stuff from Menards, but didn't even think of ordering there. DOH!
    Sometimers.
I'll check right now. We'll be near a Menards on Sunday, so I can check online to see if that store carries it.
I could always do single wall for a minute, then switch, if needed.

Just got off the phone with a nice woman at the shipping co., who told me their driver usually leaves Gaylord about 7:30a.m. and works his way to Alpena.
I should see the delivery mid-morning on Tues.:)
Doublewall got ordered earlier today, which may not get here in time, but I can use the single wall slip pipe I have until it gets here.
Brother and nephew are informed and ready, although my nephew likes to sleep late. I'll have fresh coffee for him when he gets here, and once the stove gets installed, I'll probably make them some lunch.
I'll work on getting the Ashley off the hearth as late as possible so we're ready to go.
I just hope the driveway isn't a sheet of ice. :(
Pics to follow in a few days.

Gotta love it when a plan comes together :)
That's what I was thinking, run it with the pipe you have until you get the pipe you want

I've decided to forego the IS also. I'd love to own a Woodstock, and I think the IS would do the job, but $2200, plus extra for an OAK is a lot of dough to replace the NC30 that does a fine job heating my 2800 sqft from my insulated basement, even this winter. Hope it works well for you.

Really looking forward to seeing how this works. It will give me a better understanding of how drafty Dave's home really is.

Drafty is only a part of it. The outside walls obviously didn't get sealed well. Just wasn't done back when this place was built.
It just doesn't seem to hold heat well. I thought maybe it was me, but after insulating the stove room, I know I'm right.
The lack of adequate insulation in the attic is a big part of the problem.
I do think there are drafty areas, but the heat loss is upward.
The inside of the lower kitchen cabinets is chilly. It's the ones on the outside wall, so I have no doubt I'll find air coming in there once we get into the kitchen redo.

That stove must be every bit the beast they say it is to heat like that!

Congrats, Dave. I think you made a great deal and a great move by getting the 30. No more complaining about drafts I spect. You may be openin' up winders to cool it off now!

Good luck with it, and enjoy the heat and savings. We gotta have pics, though, or you know the sayin', it didn't happen.

    We'll be waitin'.

I've got a section of single wall slider that I had to cut down when I added the damper adapter.
I hope it'll stretch to fit the 30 for a couple days, since the Ashley is at least a couple inches taller than the 30.
Also, an update on the price.
It got adjusted down a few bucks.
    Saved me about $6.
    Woohoo. I'm rich.
Let's see,....the interest on 6 bucks over the course of 2 years is.......yeah, not so much.

    Man, I'm a maroon.

Need suggestions for a gooder one.
