OMG! Here I thought I was the only person to ever be that unfortunate. I was taking the top out of a tree. The guys on the ground were the first to discover it. Well, they found the head and one shoulder. Many, many years ago, my boss at the time found a railroad spike in a tree. He actually didn't know what he had hit until he got it home and split it. A couple weeks later he brought it in to show us what had ripped the teeth off the chain that day. Over the years I've found barbed wire to be a pretty common "find".
It's a beast, a pile of torque. Something like 106cc. I'm going to swap an 090 P/C someday, that'll give it even more...
I am confused here. Are these from you shooting into a log? Looks like they are all facing exactly the same direction which is up the grain. Had to enter the log lengthwise to do that, or they all tumbled exactly the same and entered the tree standing.
Well, technically, this was found in my wood stack area. Stoopid wabbit. Didn't even need to bait the trap. I had noticed some tracks in fresh snow. I set up the trap where the tracks went under my racks.(2x4's on cinder blocks) I draped a tarp over it, no bait. Then the bright moon and stoopidity took over ensued, and voila! I didn't want it around due to some plants being munched to the ground in the fall. There were some others that I ummm..dispatched a few months ago. This one was driven across town and released into the woods. Good karma, I'm hoping.
Wish all my splits came with handles.. As I recall, there was some garden hose a little further down in this tree.
I found three VERY young garter snakes under a round laying on the ground. Walked away with their cover, and they were gone when I returned.
