In the old days up here. When guys would build a log cabin in the summer to live in over the winter.
Once it got cold , they would haul water and throw it on the outside of the cabin. It would freeze and seal up the miryad of drafts in the chinking. Long before the days of Perma Chink. It worked very good. Every few days, they would throw more water on areas that developed a new draft.
Without electricity to move the warm air from the ceiling to the floor, many would hew planks for framing and floor boards to get their feet up above the cold ground which was the floor of most quickly built cabins.
Easiest way I've found to find air leaks from inside the house or cabin. Is to wash a load of laundry and hang it up to dry inside . Within a few hours there will be very visible frost growing from the offending cracks.
Spray foam is Wonderful stuff !!

-12 at the moment with a feel of -35. Might get on the positive side of 0 today, we'll see.

I have some nice rounds of maple I've been saving for colder weather to squeeze into the OWB.

-17 out again. Furnace is running a bit this morning while coals burn down. And a little help from the sun is nice too. Just to much oak through it in the past 4 days or so. Usually not a problem but in temps like this theres no way to avoid it. Should break 0 today by 1 degree according to the weather guessers. Happy and safe New Year!
