USSC King 2007B

I already posted about this on our temp site, but thought I would recap on the new one. I picked up a United States Stove Company manufactured King 2007B woodstove on clearance at our local Bomgaars. The stove retails for $999 and they wanted $325. There blower control rheostat was damaged and so I got them talked down to $290. The company, after some issues with a phony display model serial number, sent me a new rheostat free of charge. I feel like I made out like a bandit.

I am really,looking forward to being able to burn longer cuts, with the old Lopi we could barely get a 14" piece in. The firebox is also a bit bigger than the lopi at 2.2 cubic feet. And the top is much more suitable to heating water and cooking upon. All in all I hope this stove treats us right for at least a few years. I think eventually it will become my garage stove when I finally get my dream stove.

 

What is your dream stove?

 

Not sure yet, don't want to be dropping a ton of money until I know. I suspect it will have a huge firebox and an autodamper, though.

 

Well there, Mr. Bandito, looks like a nice fire.....upside down......but nice.
The requisite question is then, how do you keep those pots from falling off the stove? Magnets?

My dream stove keeps changing, every time a new one comes out.

 

I should just add this to my signature-- the iPad likes to flip my pictures upside down for anyone not viewing them on an iPad or sometimes an iPhone.

 

Was having an issue with the door jamming every time the stove got hot, but a little adjustment tonight before I lit it up seems to have fixed the issue.

 

Yep, also makes sure my cover is hanging in front of the camera.

 

How do you get the coffee pot to stay under the stove like that? Dosn't it fall off?

Hey I just bought a house that has one of these stoves in it. I thought the door gasket was leaking. Then I saw the above link. Now I knew why the wood was just burning up so fast. I found a solution. You can take small strips of aluminum foil to block the air going into the vent holes at the top. As soon as I did that I got the desired slow burn. My stack temperature it's still plenty high. I can't wait to see how long it will burn now. The vacuum of the draft keeps the foil on there. I have a little handle folded into them so I can move them around.
