Two different times my 1100 honda shadow started to go into a high speed warble briefly just a tad over 100mph...Scared the crap out of me...Of course I instantly got off the throttle and it came right out of it....
Many times the speed wobbles are from rear suspension mis adjustments or just a series of unfortunate events. My TLS gave me a tank slapper out of the kink at Road America at decent speed. I saved it. The rear rotary dampers ( no shock, but a rotary damper like on F1 cars) were known to overheat, and then under damp. Suzuki retrofitted steering dampers on the original 97's and then those steering dampers came as stock from then on. That was really a band aid fix. Replacing the rotary damper with a traditional shock is the correct fix. I've never had this issue on the street.
125 miles on Wednesday, 30 years of riding on that nice twisty road and not one single cop, and one lit me upI didn't go to jail I know I was doing at least 100 mph and no ticket. My FJR doesn't know slow.
That's gonna cost ya...It did me...got nailed for 90 in a 55 on my V65 Sabre years ago...lost license for a month...had work privileges though..."worked" a lot that month
Yeah I was was moving pretty fast, I came out of some curves and nailed it and the cop was coming at me and lit me up but kept on going, I waived and slowed down real fast.......... Yep, that one would have cost me a lot.... That scared me!
Went to the Winter Storage party put on by the place that stores my bike. You get two free drinks, chicken wings and samples from the service department's chili cookoff (vote for the winner too). They have raffles at the end (I won a hat, beanie and some chrome tire valve stem caps) plus you can visit your bike.
Rode 65 miles to the Ohio River, yesterday. Rode back roads and goat trails going home for a total of 150 miles. It was great getting out. Feeling much better holding the line, at speed.
I finally got to ride mine to work yesterday and hopefully today. Mix bag of rain/snow on the way, ughh. Went to the DC IMS last weekend and visited some local dealerships. Here’s a few pics. Was told the first machine is a 1of 5 made in full carbon. $$$$$ The show was disappointing, even smaller than last year.
Motorcycle sales are in the dumps. Have been for years, unfortunately. Most millenials are not interested in motorcycles, not helped by the motorcycle manufacturers missing what the market wants, plus the great recession didn't help sales either, and the industry hasn't rebounded. All these pretty 40k + motus, Ducatis, 200 HP Superbikes are such the minority of bikes out there. The newer 250, 300 and 400 and 500cc bikes are a step the right direction, but is it too late? Harley can't figure out how to attract younger riders, despite multiple years and strategies. Their older riders are literally dying off, and the product hasn't really changed in about 30 years. So why would there riders but any new bikes? Then there's all the idiots in cages not paying attention to driving, but rather on their phones while driving. Interesting times... I'm getting the itch to get out there on 2 wheels, once the salt is off the roads. It's getting close.
