Did a quick shut down to wipe the firebox/heat exchanger.

Saw the ash pan was about 75% full (Crabbe are ashier than others) so decided to empty that. Spilled some ash so had to vac up some of it. Due to not doing a complete cool down (still warm actually), put the vac and the bag of ash outside away from the house. If I hadn't decided to empty the pan, no vac would have been used. Very unlikely there is anything hot in the vac but not taking any chances. With the cold and snow out there, its safe.

After my retirement from the VA, I worked for a home care agency. The most popular car owned by the home care staff is the Subaru. At one intersection I stopped at, I once counted 5 Subarus stopped waiting for the light to change. I wanted one, but the wife wanted no part of it. While she never tried one, she said they were too hard to get in and out of. Good dependable car with all wheel drive that has a solid reputation of being dependable transportation.

Super happy here for Natalie G - the vehicle was a one owner, extremely well taken care of, and w/ the kind help we received today, we're back to a 2 car reliable transportation family. * This takes a huge amount of pressure off myself, and gives Natalie the freedom she needs to meet her obligations & w/ training opportunities for work - counting the Blessings here this evening.

-16 here this AM but got up to 10. Lots of sun so house warmed up real nice so I took the opportunity to shutdown and clean. Colder tomorrow and Monday with highs in the single numbers and lows double digit below. I may need to buy 2 more tons the way things are going.

Yeah the hopper extension is expensive for what it is but I find mine to be worth it for not having to worry about stove going out on wife. I got mine from Mountain View Hearth Products, price is still the same, $350.
    Harman P43 & P38 21" Hopper Extension Kit (1-00-773895)

There is one on Amazon but only fits P 61, 61A, 68, PC 45 Pellet or 44 Magnum Stove. $236

This cold chit is eating onto the good stuff. No Crabbe burning at this point, but its warm in here. Used the oven to cook some ham for dinner so that is helping warm up too

I got mine from a local-ish Harmon dealer for the same price I was finding it online. May not happen everywhere though and I may have hit him while he had a billion customers so he forgot to jack the price up - or maybe not. I wasn't complaining though.

Great minds and all that . I shut down both stoves late this afternoon and gave them a quick cleaning. Figured they would be giving a half-decent effort the next couple of nights so I don't have to worry about ashes or the igniter being buried and unable to light. Was going to do it tomorrow but decided with it being calm tonight, and supposed to be windy tomorrow, tonight was the better option.

In Oct we finally got rid of "the money pit" aka 2004 Santa Fe and got a Toyota Certified 2015 Rav 4 XLE w/19k miles on it. I had bought a new Corolla in 2015 so those 2 should last us a dozen years as we don't drive as much anymore.

Did the traditional cleaning on the P68 along with grabbing a pallet of LaCrete and an oak for the P68 . Did not have the time to install and will be hitting Homeless Depot tomorrow for clamps to fasten it to the stove and the outlet. Correct me if I am wrong but when i order or buy a outside air KIT it should be a kit which includes everything to instal as a kit. Somehow it did not have the clamps to attach ? go figure. Anyways it will be installed tomorrow and hopefully will make a difference. 3 of the bags were damaged and sustained some moisture damage, when it was brought to my attention the gentlemen whom brought it out told me to just grab some bags from the store inside to replace the damaged bags, so I thought well that sounds good. After loading the second load (cant carry 2400 lbs in my truck) I went inside to grab 3 bags at which time I was told to grab them from the outside, well all that was outside was NEWP nope no good went back in where I talked to the kind lady and told here there were only sealed pallets and asked if I could grab some energex from the 4 bags inside. She hesitated went outside to see only NEWP sealed pallet and at that time i told her I did not want that junk so she said sure grab the energex. Was a bit taken back as I had paid top dollar for a pallet of LaCrete and 3 bags were damaged and they wanted me to take NEWP to replace it . Anyways I left with 57 bags of Lacrete and 3 bags of energex that looked like FSU which I will toast in the cellar dwellar.
