Its 41F but windy. Gonna drop below freezing at night for a little while while in the mid 40’s during the day. Its mild but later the mid january prediction is to drop again. I guess my taking measures of splitting and stacking wood haven’t been absolutely useless.....

Looking at the temperatures of the far north doesn't make me sweat but does make me feel warmer.

It's still -3°f at 10 am this am. I know it got even colder but I don't have a weather station. It's supposed to warm up to 3° above today. Heat wave huh?

My oldest brother and his GF are staying overnight. They live in Portland OR. They are not used to these temperatures.

I had the stove super choochin' last night and this am.

Honey locust and beech in the quadrafire for the last few days.

Yes, it is just a 2 cu ft stove and too small for this kind of weather. Still beats heating the house just with oil. The objective becomes hearing the boiler less rather than not at all. It heats the kitchen, entryway/multi-purpose room and dining room. ( the part of the house that gets lived in during the day) If the power were to go out we have pocket doors that can close off sections of the house.
Smaller stove = more feedings. :(

There's been a couple of stoves for sale here we should have grabbed.

image.jpg Another chilly one today. I read the other day all of Saskatchewan was/is in a cold weather warning, the whole province! Burning as much poplar and furnace oil as I care to. -35 C feels -48 C if you think that way.

I have like a 1.3cuft stove at my older farm house. Its not like a grand victorian house your thinking of but a smaller home. I have to load it but beats paying for oil there. Plus im use to my3.5 ft cuft stove i load once ir twice a day at home.

I don't have much faith that the temps will rise. It will take a pressure system to make that swing. Will see.

Now that everyone else is getting cooler, and talking about all the wood they are now burning, now under stand why I burn between 15-20 cords a season.
