Well, either never activated my alarm (it had the wake time set) or shut it off in my sleep. Woke up with plenty of time for my coffee, shower and getting my stuff together before taking the cat to the vet.

Got home about 11:30 and did my show blowing. Man that SnoTek goes thru the ice and pretty solid berms pretty well. I'm impressed - easier than my old Blower (to be fair, it was probably 20 or more years old). It ran out of gas JUST before I was done and I left it empty and just shoveled the rest. Ran out and got tickets to the two big lotteries so maybe I can retire  . Also got oil so I can change the blower out (hence not adding gas to finish the removal). Supposed to change oil at 2 hours - probably got more like 4 hours on it. Ah well, I'm starting it out right - I don't baby anything except my animals, so it just needs to get used to it.

Looks like 9* is going to be the top temp today

About 12 yrs ago I got a job driving a school bus (easy way to get your CDL-B for free, turned it into a truck driving job 6 months later) and was amazed at how I had to stop at just about every driveway to pick up kids, if it looked like rain or snow or was below 30 they would be in the car at the end of the driveway which was usually only 25 ft from the garage. kept thinking "we're raising a nation of wimpy kids".

I remember walking 1.9 miles to school cause you had to live more than 2 miles to be on a bus route back in the late 1960s.

Just walked the dogs in the woods. We made it almost an hour. Dogs had ice packed in their paws. I usually use Mushers Secret but I can't find the stuff. Guess I have to order some more. Sooooo nice to be sitting here in the living room where I have it up to 70!

They are nice machines. You're talking Ariens, right? My sister in law bought one two years ago and she called me two weeks ago and said her auger stopped. I'm thinking shear pins, but when I looked at it, the pins were good. Turns out either no one put gear lube in the auger gearbox or it leaked out. The bronze auger gear had no teeth. I bought new gears, bushings and seals. Took me three hours to do the job because the machine is practically new. Everything together with Never Seize. $70 in parts. Not normal for a two year old machine. It's funny. The new gears were both steel. I have a 4 year old 624E Ariens and it is awesome.

Well the car is out of the garage for a little ride, battery charger made it just into the yellow and the engine turned right over no coaxing needed. The charger is on its way home and the boss is going to stop at the mailbox.

    We are.

As for walking to school, I lived 2.1 miles from MS & HS.....but we were a city school district, so no buses AT ALL. Uphill both ways ....literally, for 6 years.

Got mine, plus some scratch-offs. Spent $5 on the scratchers, got $41 back. :dex: I'm retired already, so if I won one of the big ones, most of the $$ is going to my daughters, and some to my best friend. Oh.....and a new 'Vette Grand Sport for me.

Dang Leominster what brought me out to central MA was the only place I could afford when i moved to MA from Upstate NY. Met my lifelong mate (aka Wife) in the condo I bought in Leominster and we eventually bought this leaky old farmhouse in Lunenburg. Enjoyed it in Leominster and funny that you should mention it especially seeing that you were born and raised there.

Before you pick that up, see if they can slap some winter tires and chains on it.

Yes it was. I played the typical girl with stupid questions at the local O'Reilly's. For the life of me I couldn't figure out if 4 cycle automotive oil was the same as regular (because I wasn't on the computer so couldn't Google it). I told the nice young man who was helping me what I needed (4 cycle, 5w-30, detergent). He recommended synthetic so I took it. Engine book says regular is good although synthetic can be used as an alternative. Now I just gotta get up the nerve to do the deed since I've never changed oil in snowblower or mower before. Eh, not doing something before hasn't stopped me for a lot of things, just slowed me down. In this case I have until Monday to get it done :D
