Yes that is what I use.I have a 16 foot chimney and use a 4 inch flex liner to the top.My oak is 3 inch aluminum flex pipe that goes up about 8 feet in the chimney so the exhaust and air intake are separated. The thing I like is the incoming air is warmed by the heat from the flex liner. The only maintenance is to brush out the flex liner once or twice a year.

That proves you can't ever have been from Mass. They fold at 32 degrees.

and... it was uphill both ways to school!

I recall walking (1 mile) to middle school in the 60's when temps were -13F rarely was there a snow day, parents did not bring you to school, much less drive you to the bus stop.

A hint for artc "An expression primarily found in the United Kingdom that refers to walking." My family on my maternal grandmothers' side was Loyalist and originally from CT.

Haha!! A Harmon clique! Who would have known?

To be honest, I wanted a traditional wood stove, but SWMBO wanted something "pretty and easy to use". And the rest (unsurprisingly) is history. We ended up with the Accentra. I can attest that it is easy to use, and she considers it pretty. So other than the initial cost, it's working out well.

Only issue I ever had was with a bag of Inferno Golds that I picked up last year. At this point, I believe I must have picked up a bag from a bad lot or one that had been handled improperly in the past because if they were all that bad, then would be universally despised. Want a reference point for how bad the Infernos were? I had to cut them with Green Supreme to get them to burn. And I couldn't use the auto-igniter because they would smolder, half light, and eventually push smoking pellets off the burn shelf into the ash pan. But other than that, the Accentra has been no drama. It just eats and heats.

I'm sure this is old news for you folks, but I found a neat comparison article on a couple stoves and the 52i was one of them. I had already made the purchase, so it didn't affect that, but it was nice (post purchase) to see that the 52i did relatively well in the comparison. Found at forgreenheat.org:

    http://www.forgreenheat.org/upload/upload/rating report with contact.pdf

And as for frequent removal of ashes? Am I supposed to take the ashes out sometime? Is that part of the drama?

No, we just noted that all of the newbies were a bit perplexed about what to do with the ashes. There is usually a thread asking each heating season. When they are cold mine goes on the compost pile.
