Sitting in -32 C feels -41 C at the moment, or -25 F feels -41 F. Stove pulls like a beast, and wood splits like a dream, but I could handle some warmer weather. I think the cold snap is supposed to disappear in 3-4 days though.
I have to do that to mine at like 40f or sometime 50f. Now thats when there is air in the tank if its empty its not as bad to start.
Is your a diaphragm compressor or belt drive pump? Mine is a belt drive pump its almost never hard to start. The garage was -5 this morning inside the building!!! That is a first it never goes below 10F in there even in the coldest temps... The compressor oil was so thick it when I pulled the dipstick it literally came out like a long string. I had to heat the whole pump up to get the compressor running again...
Its one of those Harborfreight like 25 gallon upright ones. It has an electric motor that turns the compressor
According to my outdoor thermometer it’s up to a blistering 10°F. Gotta go outside and grab more wood. Not looking forward to even the slightest exposure to the cold. My better half wants me to do some grocery shopping for her too. Yikes!
I’d like to know where my weather thingy on my posts gets their temps from. It’s been showing 20° For quite a while. I know it’s 10° here.
16°F right now in St. Louis. Burning red and white oak today. New years eve their calling for -5°F here which is pushing -21°C on the mercury. I'll be tapping into my secret stash of 5 year black locust for the new year. Thank God that the Midwest is over abundant with premium hard woods to burn. Especially all the crazies giving it away free on CL.
Went out for some meetings, in 4 hours my stove top temp dropped to 400 IAT went down 4 degrees.. Sugar maple got me back to STT 650.. Still negative 2 fareheit and 15mph nw wind..
6F just burned down the coals with a pine split. Now the house is a little too warm. I just shut the air down completely and I'll let er rip again in a while.
-12*F this AM never got above 16*F today. Had to throw a few splits on the fire around noon today as the OWB was just not putting out the heat I need. 20hr burn time still not to bad. Will be loading up again soon. Will try to use mostly Red Oak.
The few splits I put on earlier were pretty much burned up. Loaded up OWB with more Hard Maple and some Red Oak hopefully it will go 24hrs. That will depend on the temperature overnight it doesn't look good it is 4* now.
