Yep, we are generally able to get a variety of different DF pellets here - especially these past couple seasons. North Idaho, Bear Mountain, Olympus, Packsaddle, Pinnacle, Blazer, Purcell, etc. whether in their own brand bag or re-bagged as some other brand. Problem is, as you already know, they are cost prohibitive here. If you keep an eye out, sometimes you can find a deal
We have a cold snap brewing here. It's hardly going to get out of the teens for the next week. This is when we want to be burning them. Are you guys forecast to get this frigid cold over the next week too?
Yeah, supposed to have a good cold snap here too. I'm "saving" my Firs I'm actually trying to burn up all of my average hardwood so I just have softies or softie blends left.
I picked up 10 bags of Chow from HD this morning so , I tossed one in the Accentra , We'll see how they do .
Looked into what my local has. Yeppers chows. Lemme know what ya think. $5.90/bag or $259/ton Ouch!! Agway has Blackstone for $5.59/bag or $235.ton Looks like what on the menu. Until Aprils refill...........
My supplier has Indeck hardwoods and a softwood blend... nice piney scent from the softies. They burn pretty nice too with a lighter, fluffier ash than the hardwoods I had been using. Both are local pellets with the hardwoods @ $199 and the softwoods $209... I've been buying ten bags at a time @ $4.60/bag. We had -15f the last two nights.. high today +4 if we are lucky.
That's no big deal for me , stove was cleaned last week and and it's been on a diet of Vandy Plat's since the cleaning , so I'm good to go for a few weeks or the 1st sunny 30+ day we get , before the next clean.
I took IHP/willus's advice(didn't really want to admit it, But hey why not) and tossed in a bag of the Craprans before bed last night. Got about 11 hours out of a bag and wifey said she was cold was cold. Jumped the feed rate to 4 so they will go even faster. Sets were going 12 to 13 hours or so on feed rate 3(hi/lo). Wifeys heading to torrington for some grub. She might stop at Agway and grab some of them Blackstones. We'll give them a try tonight. Bag 2 of the currans went in. May just scoop em out and save em for spring warmer climate............ Same goes for the blackstones if they s^ck too!! Guess we got spoiled with these sets and the chow/FSU's we started with??
Meh, Beast has a super sized ash pan. You think Chows are bad, You should try North American/Curran............
