Every now and again I've been getting a light, but high pitch whistle from my combustion blower. Been thinking about ordering a back up in case it goes. If I remember right don2222 sold StEarl and different motor that moves a little bit more air? I'm interested to know if there still available and how much $$$. Would also be nice to know how well the stove works with a little more air. The quad 1200 Seems to be a close design, I see people running feed gates wide open on them, yet I never run my stoves feed gate at even half open. Would this be because they have a bigger combustion fan? What's the cfm difference between the two stoves?
Might get more air, but w/o an increase in pellet consumption, air coming out of the stove might just be cooler.

Don sent me a PM with a link, Looks like there is a upgrade motor that is more heavy duty, runs at a higher current for a more consistent burn, but has the same rpm. The motor says it works better for lower heat settings and I'm always running my stove on medium. Thanks for the link slvrblkk, I'm Probably going to Just order the heavy duty one, that way my old one still works as a spare.
Indeed. Convection temps will be lower. But a benefit is the house convection gets a boost. You will likely circulate the air faster depending on convection path. So will aiming a small fan at the stove(which is likely a cheaper alternative).
OK, I'm confused....are we talking about the combustion or convection blower???? And the convection blower has nothing to do with "consistent burn". And RPM is RPM.....if the RPM is the same, the only way to increase air flow is either a re-designed blower impeller and/or housing.
Where talking combustion, don't Think I ever put convection. And Yes the upgraded motor has a different impeller and housing design. With a higher current fan, the fan speed will stay more consistent.

I have this exact motor. It was actually in my 1200 too but I moved it to my Mt Vernon and the original one in the Mt Was a 3000 rpm 1.8 amp motor so its a wash amperage wise. I currently have a 3000 rpm 1.2 amp I'm my 1200 and honestly, I didn't see any noticeable difference. It's hard to tell though unless you have something that actually measures airflow or something.
If I remember right St Earl got one from Don and said his stove ran better, especially on medium. Can't really remember as this was maybe two years ago. Just thinking if I need a new one soon, maybe upgrade. I've always felt that stove should be moving a little more air. Then again, I have nothing to compare it too.
Ive never taken the combustion blower out to clean it. Clean the impeller regularly and vac the backside every so often. I do know that the impeller set screw is going to be a beatch when it needs to be removed. Maybe some PB Blaster or 3 in 1 oil will work but also might have to cut it off when the time comes.
Yes I do, but It's never that dirty. I can half azz vacuum it through the inside port when I clean the stove Every time. I've never had to take the impeller off, won't a new motor come with one?
Also pretty sure the impeller needs to come off to get the old motor out so we both might be using the Dremel at some time
