It’s not the temp ... it’s the damm wind ... I live close to Lake Erie and we are getting up to 50mph gusts ! Brutal outside - every outdoor cat in the vicinity is prowling outside my door !!!

I know bud...I'm just funning with you....and it's a damp cold too. I used to live on the north side of Lake Ontario, and on the eastern shore of Lake Huron.

8 degrees this morning and I had to re-light the boiler. That wind we had last night along with the temps really took the warmth out of the house and burned through a boiler full of Ash overnight. Re-loaded with Ash and Pine mix.

I woke up at 0530 to get ready for work to a stove full of coals. I loaded it down last night with big splits of red oak and mulberry. House temps had started to drop to 69* but that's not too bad with 13* air temps and 15-20mph winds. I wish I had more access to oak.

A cool 12 degrees with windchill of -1, we might see 16 today which will be the high until Thursday.

Stoked the OWB with ash and hedgeapple last evening after work....a chore which required a swill and swaller of Honey Turkey, wish I had more of that hedge!

Might test my metal and go chase a load of that hedgeapple today,,me thinks I have fast easy access to a truckload, which would be amix of hedge and ash, in the area I've been cleaning up...gotta' couple brush piles to burn and guess a truckload could be worked up with less than one tank,,of course it could be a day of binge watching Netflix.

Me thinks another cup of coffee is in order!

Yes, it is always nice to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Especially when that labor is firewood and the temps are so low.

Good morning, it's 14 here at the moment, I loaded the stove stove up with really hard big maple chunks at bedtime and the coals were waiting for some fresh fuel this am. I plan to stock my porch today with a bunch of of 3 yr seasoned Oak I've been saving for just this kind of cold snap that's coming our way. It is time to do what we do best. :fire:
