I used to have Simington grinders. And I had a Silvey Razor Sharp ll I've ground with every chisel chain grinder I know except the Zigglemeier. . Even the Bell and Neilson I burned out the motor in my 451A. It takes the small motor. I'm going to try a Silvey motor on it. See if I can get it mounted plumb and level. I'll have to cut the switch box off the base frame. But that will be a lot less than a brand new 451C.
Evening glen how's you Have you tried measuring the bolt spacing and shaft diameter to a different motor or order one
Can you get a motor for the silvey or have a junk one laying around I know a guy needing the bottom motor plate for a silvey rs11
As long as they are made sharp enough and hard enough without being too brittle . They will work well. I need to find some Oberg files . If they are still made and made as well as they were 20 years ago.
Doing good. How r u doin ? Did u hunt today ? I was hoping to get off work at 2 this afternoon. But developed quite an oil leak in the truck I was driving so that set thing back a bit. Only 450 to go and the Kimber comes home with me.
The Silvey and Simington motor shafts are the same and take a collar to size them up to the standard 1" arbor size that most all chisel grinder wheels have. I prolly should have bought a new grinder than a few new shootin irons for Christmas . But. I'm not making my living with power saws currently. I hate to admit it , but most of the firewood in my shed I cut with round filed semi chisel chains. I know , That's disgusting !! After my grinder motor burned out. I chisel filed for a couple years . Then went to round fileing. Kinda lazy . when I go to the coast the guys I cut for have grinders so I keep my chains nice there.
I've looked at them and I think , 100% fer sure, maybe , perhaps. The Silvey motor can work on my Simington grinder base. Madsen's sells lots of Silvey parts. Really sucks that the Timber industry has been gutted by the environmentalists, but even more so by the Mechs. And no , I don't mean people from South of Texas. Mechanical harvesters and processors.
You Need a real set of dogs on that power head !! The dogs that came on the 655 PP were Perfect bottom spike of them was nearly 3" long. They would stick into Anything !
What the check is that horrible black and yellow thing hanging up by the creeper ? Ewww, yuk. If I had to use one of them I think I would heat with electric.
404 is The way to go in Red Cedar , big cottonwood and similar real soft but fuzzy timber. And for Long bars in conifers and other softwood.
Which idiots destroyed what on this episode ?? Gold Rush drives me almost as crazy as watching Ax Man.
