Good morning,,mid 20's to upper 40's today, coffee is on. My calibrated stove loading eyeball was off a little last evening,,indoor temps @ 68 degrees and water lines are not at all hot in the furnace closet. Gonna' go feed the beast earlier than expected.
18 here and the relight was with Cedar and Maple splits, then added some Oak & Elm once she got going.
28* this morning. House was 68 and heat pump running when I got home from work. Started some hackberry and cherry splits. This is a good combo. House is already at 70*.
15* here this morning. House is 72* Soft Maple and Poplar in the OWB. Calling for snow tomorrow. Put the chains on the Kubota yesterday bring it on.
Hopefully that train business down by DuPont is over with Sean by the time you do!!im located between 512 highway and bridgeport exit. Good luck friend!
The 12" we were supposed to get yesterday never materialized. Good! Ended up with just under 3" overnight...just enough to make you get out and shovel. Temps are 13 now with a couple mild days coming before the sub-zero temps hit. Had my drive yesterday and was thankful the snow didn't show up. Nice bare highways for the whole day!
Minus 6 when so got up. Got the draft open a bit on last night's load of poplar. Will refill and cork it down before I head to work. Have a good day all.
It was almost -30 C with the wind last night, but it warmed up today and so far sitting at -12 C feels -20 C, or 10 F feels -4 F. Poplar in the reactor.
24° this morning, warm enough in house but needed a restart. Weather guessers saying one thing, internet saying another.
Winters back, just for a night though as its going to get warm and rainy this weekend, then next week its really winter.. I brought in wood two days ago in prep for next week. Its 3yr seasoned red oak, and I just lit a cold stove and it took off like a rocket right away. Amazing what an extra year does to oak!
It’s been sort of warm here the last couple days and melted most of the snow not to mention a small break in burning! Yesterday and today got back to a bit more normal burned more iffy wood yesterday and just tossed in a few 3 year seasoned white birch splits bogydave would be proud! My first time burning it, so good so far! I’ve got about a cord of it to use and next week a good test for it we are going to the single digits!! Currently 70 in, 26 out with white birch rolling at 500 stove top
Tonight's burn will be dubbed "The Kitchen Sink." Overnight load consists of the following.. In a great stroke of wood-nerd-ness I remember where every piece was scrounged from. Poplar Sugar maple White birch Willow Ash
Funny thing about wood-nerd-ness I remember the day I got the birch that’s burning tonight! Hot, lots of brush, three truck loads of wood and cost my brother 18 stitches
The IS is going to be on a steady diet of red oak for the next week+! Gonna be making a dent in the piles.
32 °F today burned some walnut , Low tonight 29 °F , freezing drizzle likely, possibly mixed with snow , ash n maple for overnight tonight , looks like Low Monday night 8 °F
38°, won’t be dropping much further than that. Rest of the 7 days are bound to be interesting. Cold as a witch's’ thorax at night. That’s all to report.....
