Same here, our snow forecast dropped from up to 8" down to maybe a couple. We'll prolly end up with one. Doesn't bother me a bit. Well, just looked at the forecast again and now it's back up to 3-6" from tonight through Friday morning.
32F supposed to get down to 19F tonight. Been back to shoulder maple the past few days. Need to restock on some other goodies.
IF I had those temps I would not be so lazy on getting my second stove installed, it would not be living on my back porch for the last 3 years!!! Brand new Englander NC30 waiting to be installed!! In those temps if I was jus running my one stove no other heat my bedroom would probably be in the 40s!! Stove room probably still in the low 70s
Its 32° Out, 79°in. To drop to below freezing 28-26F. Full load in the stove. Doug fir square wood with a huge split of alder. The gasket repair WORKED like a stinking charm. I’m so happy I could plotz! Grizzly Adam would know its meaning! Night!
It's 54f here. Getting colder, need to clean ashes out frim last few days and load it back up with what coas are left from last night's reload and go again.
supposed to get around 70 tomorrow, be a good day to let the stove go out and clean the pipe. later in the week it's going to get cold. some of the oak is not really dry yet and creosote has built up. I've had to take the cap off a couple times and knock it off the screen.
Two stoves. Honestly it’s hard to find anything wrong with that..provided the wood supply is ample there.
Two metal beasts to feed would sure amp up the wood usage! I wish those thru the wall pellet stoves I've read about were safe and cheap. That's what I would use in my situation. I still have a cold back room, but I don't mind cold when I'm asleep.
we haven't much cold so far, I deer hunted in t shirts and tennis shoes a few days. got in the eighties a few times.
Its -16c/3f here and Im getting ready for a reload. We had a 10 inch dump of snow yesterday but the skies have cleared out nicely. Im travelling 14 hours west to Vancouver BC to visit family for the holidays in the morning. Ill be travelling through the states this time around, there are less big mountain passes to go through. My stove is going to be cold for 7 days. I wonder if Ill go through wood burning withdrawal or just enjoy the break? Its supposed to be this temp as a high while Im away so the furnace will get a work out. I like to turn the water off and drop the furnace temp down a bit when I travel in the winter.
Pine in the quadrafire now, about to reload with pine and beech for the overnight. It finally got cold again after 49° on Tuesday. 23° today. It's supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow. Then snow.
I have plenty of wood. And the second stove would really only be for when company would be here or nights of say 27 and below where it's harder to keep the far rooms warm. Or multiple nights in the upper 20s and cold days where the cold. Aches up with the house and I can't stay ahead of it. Here with my lack of insulation several nights in the 20s with highs in the 40s without a warmup really catches up with this house and taxes the High Valley stove even though it is a 3.5 cuft monster Cat stove.
Got home a couple hours ago with this BRAND NEW shift work the friggen city put us on. Been doing the Dolly Parton song for the last 20 years BUT kinda havin fun right now in the middle of the nite. Minus 12c with some Swamp Maple brewing. I see they are now calling for quite abit of snow now through Christmas. Loon
Evening Y'all; -10°F here atm. Stove is loaded with nice poplar. Gotta go plug in the vehicles for morning start up. Feels nice feeling like winter again.
Wood stove is taking a break. I've got a fire code issue that I need to resolve. 32 degrees and dropping. DF pellets dropping.
