I'm Greenstick because I am green and I don't know everything let alone much of anything, and sometimes I feel dumb as a stick after I see a much easier way to do something after working my butt off getting it done and then relax and then a moment of enlightened ignorance strikes me of why didn't I do that instead :picard::headbang:.

Thanks. It heats well as long as you have a ample wood supply.

An old ad I have seen
“With a Warner you’ll be warmer”

I'm from NH obviously, where our state motto is "Live Free or Die" most of us take our freedom seriously here. I have a camp up in the mountains and used to hunt, fish, & trap everyday when I was young and had time. I love the old way of life with the early explorers, trappers, and traders, and Indian lore. Now that I'm older I don't seem to have time for anything.

I haven’t been to warner myself. Kind of interesting that the stoves were made in NH but not in the town of warner.
I too love the New Hampshire lifestyle. Hope to instill those values in my children. I still consider myself to be fairly young but time is excelerating at a rapid pace.

Suppose the maker was FROM there? Honoring his line of stoves....just grabbing straws here. I’m out in town so researching isn’t going well...:emb: my aunt married into the family aunt is from there, her parents lived there. Dad passed a few years ago. He was an auction fella so lotsa furniture and whatnot. I just wondered if they were around your area....I’ll have to ask.

I really don’t know but I have been told they were made in Laconia. I havent confirmed that tho. I have seen a few old advertisements. The fella that I got it from was quite interesting, he had a lot of steel plate stoves in various condition. Fishers, alpine, all nighters. Litterly had them stacked like cord wood in his yard. He had a small shop maybe 20x30 that the ones he had fixed up in. Stacked 2 high with paths like you would see in horders. I found him on CL when I bought my first house and bought a Nashua(another NH Town name) from him. He said that nashua had a comercial in the 70s where they put a stick of dynamite in the stove to show how rugged it was. When we bought a bigger house I called him back because I wanted a bigger heater. He said that the warner was the Mack truck of stoves. Probably just his sales pitch. But for 500$ I figured I couldn’t go wrong. At that time he had gotten up there in age and wanted to clear out his place so his kids wouldn’t have to when he passed. Told me the deals got better the more stoves I would take but I just purchased the house and money was short. He invited me in his house and funny thing with all the stoves he had there he heated with a round elm the one that has the Pyrex dish for a window on the door with about 500 magnetic temp gauges on it.

The elm must have some kind of charm the other ones didn’t. Did it seem like his place would be like they are plentiful enough that he found the odd one out? Well if I could get one of those fishers for a shop, that would be sweet. Only problem is Id have to move out of here and find a new part of the county that allows that sort of stove. I actually have this red Vermont Castings Intrepid that would be great for a shop, not a large burner though. Future plan though.
