    now that you've jinxed yourself....the unit is certain to stop working because you're waiting the season to pull it out.....why don't you pull it before the end of the year? How can you sleep not knowing....? The sooner the better, as you say!

    Yeah and that med will not help with that little issue at all.

    I imagine all these things can be accomplished with a paint brush and a shop-vac. But how do I verify and/or adjust the opening/closing of the intake damper? Sorry, I've never done it before and it could be simple but I'm just trying to figure out if I know what it means to be optimal here and what the heck I'd do if it wasn't.

    you can only pull the unit out and see if it moves freely....you cannot adjust it.

    Pellet with an electric heater in the bedroom (opposite end of the house) just to keep the wifey happy. When temp’s are south of zero we fire up the wood stove so there is some balance to the amount of heat.
