Called home depot and asked if they had pellets in stock. Sure she says, we have wood fibers. I asked American Wood Fibers, and she said yes! Being sick My dad said he would take the truck down and get 25 bags if they will load him. So He returns a hour later and I look in the tuck and see Wood Fibers Inc Hardwood pellets. After reading some reviews on line and saw a thread at the old place the reviews were horrible. the pellets look nice, the only thing I noticed is where I store pellets you never smell anything. Walk out there now and it smells like a saw dust mill, and will make your eyes water. I should of waited for the flooring company and payed a extra .5o cents a bag I guess. What experiences do you all have with this pellet! http://www.woodfibersinc.com/products/heating_pellets/
I tried them 2 or 3 years ago and they would eventually snuff out the fire in the old PDVC I had at the time. Increasing burn air made no difference. Low heat and very dirty. Wisconsin's version of Inferno's.
Chit, I wish I would of road a long with him, they would not of made there way to my house. Maybe they should go back, and I will go pay a extra .50 cents a bag for somersets. Grrr! I guess I could try a light a bag off, but what I read is not good!
The stove will go back on Thursday, right now way to warm! I guess my house will smell like a sawdust mill for a bit lol!
Haha... I could see it, return a stove with a fire still going in the thing! Going to get a stove that isn't so fussy?
The stove is not going back lol, the beast will darn near eat anything I feed it. I know it is probably hard to believe, but if you could smell them you would be surprised. They smell like someone dumped a rancid pile of sawdust in the living room! I will see what happens, that is why I would return them.
In the post at 8:41 you said that the stove was going back on Thursday. "The stove will go back on Thursday, right now it's way too warm! I'm guessing you meant to say pellets? I think I know what it smells like, I grew up in an area with several paper, pulp and lumber mills.
Same here, these are also the ONLY pellets i would not buy regardless of price. Of course Nations Choice as well since they are said to be Infernos in sheeps clothing. But since you have them already I would burn them.....25 bags shouldn't kill you
Never had the honor of burning them. Sure looks like I haven't missed much. BW, Make sure you use standard pellet mode so the agitator can run longer. heck, I'd use multifuel mode if there was even a hint of back up. Multifuel mode has a 5 minute clean cycle added to the program to help burn off the chitty stuff and clean the burnpot. Usually reserved for corn and other high ash fuels, But does help if you get extremely bad chit.
I had picked up a few bags (20) of GS from HD back in December/January, and was wondering how bad it would be after reading the reviews here.. They were not too bad in my whit.. As people have said, try them, they may be acceptable for you (other than the "new pellet" smell).
I bought 15 bags a few years ago. They burned. Lots of ash. Glass got dirty quick. I even got some bonus screws that showed up in my burn pot. They are near the bottom of my list. But if there was nothing else available I'd burn 'em. Maybe they had a bad year when I bought mine.
