Gave both the stoves a good cleaning today, when you toast as many pellets as I do a serious good cleaning (what normal people do maybe maybe monthly) each week, it is just so rewarding to have the stoves run efficient and with the cold weather as of late its a must for me. Took a look at snow blowers today at a local dealer and to my surprise they were incredibly affordably priced, did not grab one but will most like during the week or next weekend at the latest. The old Ariens is going out to pasture , dont feel like fixing it anymore was a great workhorse for many years. The ones l looked at were Husky's which I have never owned, plenty of chain saws but never a snowblower or mower. Does anyone have any experience with them ?
Helped the wife do some decorating which was nice to spend some time with her instead of at work and also felt froggy and fixed my sump setup that I have needed to do for at least a couple of months. All in All a good day !
Now sitting in front of the Harman toasty and have a bourbon sitting on my funky boomerang spalted maple table i decided to hold onto for a while catching up on some forum post . Life is Good

Now how did I miss a discussion on heated blankets, throws and mattress pads?!? Tried most types, I like most of them. The heated mattress pad I LOVE. Turn it on before bed to warm everything up then off when between the sheets. Cheap stick on clippies on the bedframe to keep the cord off the floor for sweeping/vacuuming. The Biddeford throws are bigger and have a longer heat time before shut off, and get warmer than the other brands, work just as well in a bed to warm the sheets and blankets in a bed. You're welcome for the unsolicited opinion LOL

And My father had one of those dial timers on our swamp coolers through the 70's and 80's and they worked great.

Yes it is - main floor stove was going at that point then shuts down when it hits 69*. If it was windy out, I would have to take it off the thermostat, but it is calm so it does just fine cycling.

OUCH ! at least on the positive side this morning and 4* at that, windows have them purdy ice formations but was a windy one which is not good for the leaky old house. 67* inside daw gone amazing just wont mention how many bags it took to get there...
You must live a ways up there Bogie and away from the coast negative is never fun.
Like the looks of your temperature gizmo want to get one myself any chance you or someone else might have an idea on what are really good and or accurate ones ? Using the old fashioned mercury style one now which I thought to be the most accurate, kinda weird as I am wondering where the heck some of these weather channels, apps ect. are pulling their temps from always a hell of a lot warmer in the winter than what I am getting at home. Just want accurate readings, not like I am to high of elevation, actually about right in the middle between the flatlands and top of the hills . Don't know if you are happy with your temp gauge let me know or if you know of a super accurate one would be obliged to hear about it .

    thanks

Actually I am in the central portion of southern NH. Most winters I see lows around -15 to -18. Exceptional winters have been -22. There is a reason there are 3 ski areas within a couple of miles of my little valley.

I have noticed that when weather stations are on a hill, the temps are warmer than at home, and usually windier as far as sustained winds. I use Weather Underground so I can pick a station close to me and at a similar altitude if I am looking for somewhat accurate numbers. Used to have one literally a couple blocks from me and my set up was always pretty much the same. To be used for reporting, the station has to be vetted and they usually want them in a wide open field or open hill top.

I don't have a serious weather station so it was really quite cheap (I think I got it on sale for ~$20 as a close out at HD a couple years ago). It is an Acurite and it only reports inside and outside temp/humidity. It tries to guess at the coming weather but that part is really rather useless and I ignore it. It is easy to set up. Of course would be more accurate if it weren't so close to the house but I didn't want to mount to a tree and wanted it to be accessible when the battery needs replacing (inevitably during nasty weather).

This is the actual unit I got, but I believe I got one of the last ones of that model. However, if you google Acurite indoor outdoor you'll find everything from simple to something quite sophisticated.

A lot of the larger websites use the nearest airport which is the worst place to pull tamps from KWPM is a piddle poor place to pull things from for Standish as weather.com does. Airport temps are for airplane lift calculations and do not reflect even local ambient air temperatures. They are influenced by the runway.

    Art,

The url for the farm museum in your signature goes to a domain place holder. Did your registration lapse?
