27F, supposedly on its way down to 12F tonight. Have a load of maple and white oak in the stove. Midwinter half of the oak i brought home from Lowell will be keeping me nice and warm for the next week or two! The other half will have to wait until next year.
Great some of it was dry enough. That was a great score. I had a good day, finished turning this oak: Into this: I'm getting used to winter.
Actually it's a 28" X25. I don't know what the weight difference of the head is, but I think a 36" handle would be too long for me.
That's good. I'm working on my aim, and also how much force to use in a swing. A lot of times I don't get all the way through a split. Sometimes I use a wedge to finish it, if there's a knot or a crotch. It definitely is faster than what I was doing before.
Yup they are the same 4 lbs , just shorter handle, I also have an X25 I don't use it as often as you will but, been resplittin some ash with it , good tool
Real feel 26F , going down to 17F, some ash in maple in the jotul cruising at 71F inside white the kids enjoy the elf movie
Just got home from the wife's family Christmas party, boiler is cruising at 167 on coals from this morning's load. Refilled with poplar and red maple for the overnight burn. Currently 20, headed for 5 according to the weather guessers, but no wind so I think we'll be ok.
We had a warm up today and hit 50*. A load of black cherry warmed the house this morning. I just started a load of black walnut to warm the house tonight. It's suppose to stay in the 30's tonight and stay in the 40's for a high all week. That should give the stove a rest and be a good chance to get some cutting done outside.
Just getting into the 20's now; should hit the upper 20's today. Wed looks like the next blast for snow-predicted totals are at a foot now, but its still three days out.
Current temp -9°F with an indoor temp of 68°F Dogs had to be quick outside this morning. Just loaded the woodstove with a mixed load.
Minus 19c here and supposed to keep cold all day. Red Maple and Elm brewing. Plus 5c with rain by Tuesday?
9 f, have black cherry and black walnut going in the Fisher Baby Bear...doing great and not paying money to the electric or propane company!!!
