    Gents,

I became a homeowner about a year and a half ago, and quickly realized the need for a chainsaw. I purchased a Husqy 440E off of Amazon with a 40cc engine and a 16" bar. My intent was for that to be my do it all saw, but once I started cutting firewood it quickly became apparent that homeowner's jobby wasn't packing the gear.

I determined I wanted a 70-ish cc saw and decided on an MS-441, detuned with a 20" bar. I have been generally happy with that choice, and am now looking for a pro- level Stihl to replace the Husqy. Leaning toward a 261 with a 16" bar, but interested to hear what my esteemed colleagues think.

    I like my 241 at 9.9 pounds.

And at your age:bug: you'll probably want a light saw:p

    Couldn't go wrong with the 261 either!

The 261 can share bars with the 441 which could be a plus.

I love my 026 and 260. For me I have no need to go smaller. If your OK with the 600 bones the 261 has to be a great choice.

If you are patient and depending on your area you should be able grab a nice 260 or 026 off CL for less than 1/2 of a new 261.

I hav'nt run Husky or other saws do I'll let others chim in on that,

The 441 and 261 makes for the perfect 2 saw plan... Unless you start running into 32"+++ rounds! If that happens you might just have to add a 661:saw::saw:

A good 50 and 70cc saw is about the best you can get in my opinion you won’t be disappointed if you get the 260

That sounds like a winning combination... my babies are the 034 & 036... they are great all around firewood saws. So a 261/260/026 should suit you just fine....

I have been using a 441, 261 combo for several years. I find them to be a very complementary pair of saws. Very happy with them both.

Have both a 261 and 441. Like Mark said earlier, you can share chain and bars. The 261 will most likely come with .325. Make changing over to 3/8 part of the deal. I have a 20 inch 3/8 on both my 261 and 026. I will eco what others have said, that pair will make a good two saw plan. You won’t be disappointed.

    So...you're saying that'd be a good combo?

Sounds like we have a consensus!

Mark, (concretegrazer) also has either a 440 or 441 and 261.

    They are a popular pair.

We’ve got a few years range of saws at work from 026, 260, and brand new 261 all wearing 16” .325 bars. They have been great and have stood up to extreme daily abuse! Bad gas, bar oil in the gas tank, dropped from buckets, run in mud and water, frozen after being full of water, cut more metal and dirt than wood, run hard with dull chains, straight gassed, banged around on a climbing lanyard, crushed under piles of material and gear, i’m probably missing something. Seem to me like a good all around saw that will do most anything.
