Good morning, 18 degrees out of doors, chunked the owb (that greedy hungry s.o.b.) full of ash last nite.
Furnace blower chit the bed sometime last nite,,,60 degrees indoors, was able to "spin start" the blower on the furnace..hopefully just the capacitor..
I'll know more about it later when I tear into it.

No idea how low the temp got last night, but 10 now and 70 IAT. However, when I got up at 4-ish, I bumped up the t-stat a little and the furnace kicked on just as I was getting back in bed.
Stove almost 1/2 full of hot coals when I got up. I must be closing the air too much. There's a very fine line between the perfect setting and the setting that makes tons of coals.
    Let's just say....I'm not perfect.:headbang:

Did you put the pan directly on the stove? Try using a trivet if you did not use one, we have a couple we cook on and no burning occurs. Good luck on the next try.:stirpot:

Nice clear cold day here in Ashby Massachusetts. I was burning down last nights coals, but now I have a nice load of 2 yr old oak. I'll maybe fire up the AS downstairs a bit later, after a bit more coffee.

19 this morning, but it's suppose to warm into the mid 30's today. It's also suppose to be very gusty with winds out of the south. The old smoke dragon will get a healthy dose of mostly ash and walnut switching over to mulberry tonight. Inside temps hanging around 72-73*.

Cloudy and -2 C (28 F) so far today. While this warm weather is a nice break from the cold, almost anything that was snow is some kind of ice now. Poplar in the stove.

Look for craigslist scores. Trees that you can buck on site and bring it home.

I had three scores last winter that were downed trees. Thankfully, it seems a lot of the other hoarders don' like to work in the cold. I had much better luck then. Get the first call into them, and convince them to take the post down. I'll keep you in mind if I come across anything I can share.
