lady (GSD) has decided she does not like UPS or FedEx trucks coming up the driveway. It seems to have gotten worse with snow (she doesn't hear them coming) and cold weather hats and gloves.. could also be new guys for holidays.. so she is staying more inside than normal.. our 85 lb love bug terrifies the delivery people

There's usually reason(s) delivery folks don't like dogs. Our son drove for UPS for 6 years. He had many bad experiences with big dogs... :hair:... :D

Stinny I'm sure she doesn't intend to cuddle with them like us. Certainly donot blame drivers.. I know she acts tough and mean because she doesn't want to be mean BUT they are not aware of that! she is really a big baby once she figures out all is OK

They obviously aren't bringing her treats and she is showing her displeasure :D. I had a neighbor who drove for UPS for over 20 years. He never had a problem with dogs since he brought treats. And, he was a dog guy, so knew how to approach them as a friendly, non-threatening person. Yeah, heavy clothing can change everything so if they don't call out to her (or if the call is from a strange voice - and perhaps someone who is emoting trepidation to begin with), that can make a difference.

Not with our GSD bogieb she barely takes treats from people she likes... lady is not food driven unless from me or wife (definitely wife' dog) I have watched her turn down steak and bacon.. shes a rescue been beaten by a guy in a truck that drank beer and wore baseball cap aND workboots... act afraid of these things... you know the type gives good rednecks a bad name... extremely gentle dog a little high strung she picked us . we love her...

just so people know I rarely post this thread as i usually get sad by the loss of family members..

The job my dad had took him to family farms once in awhile. He met many large farm dogs and they would come running up to him barking like crazy and wagging their tail. He couldn't figure out what end of the dog to believe:hair:

yup vet says she is a mix... IDK looks like GSD to me... Erik B yup she comes out tough... backs up... if I'm here she stands behind me and acts tough..  but if wife is home alone different dog..
my last dogs (my moms) was Rottweiler and Rhodesian lab Dane mix... did not bark much.. Lady is much more vocal but really just wants you to be on alert... dog barks at me when I come home late:picard:

Dog is happy... thought about another 1 but Lady' has jealousy issues so we will wait..

I had a GSDX that I knew for a fact was mixed - she looked like full GSD. Also had 2 husky mixes sired by neighbor dogs (mother was pure, father was a shepherd/wolfhound mix) - one looked full Malamute, the other looked full Siberian Husky. It's weird how sometimes mixes can look purebred and how some purebreds look like mixes :loco:

Went out looking at tree's last weekend and Emma is slowing down big time as she wanted back in the truck after only 3 fields.:picard: Pyrenees are only good for around 10-12 years and she's 8 so she will be riding in the truck more often.:smoke:
