My Genny is outside right next to my snowblower. Champion as well.
The Snowblower always gets 5w30. The genny normally gets 10w30. But if It was due for an oil change this time of year I would do 5w30 and change it again come Spring. Although at the end if the day 5vs10 probably makes negligible difference. They all get the Wally World Synthetic. Except this time i found a bottle of high mileage laying around that had the exact amount i needed.

If you use full synthetic, there is no need to change......the 5w-30 is fine for year round use. And I include genny's, sn*wblowers, lawn equip., etc.

I've bought plenty of refurbs and haven't had an issue with any of them. My current phone, Samsung S5 was bought as a refurb in 2013 and is still going strong. I've bought some power tools, two laptops and other stuff as refurbs too.

I hope you have a cover over your genny as they don't get along with rain or snow (well actually water) even if all weather.

I agree with you. But I still do it lol. Kinda just what I like I guess. My lawn mower gets 10w40 or straight 30. Just depends on my mood.

Which genny do you have? I had the 5000 running watts one full tank was to last 24hours at 50% load. The machine only had 15 minutes on it, I ran it and adjusted its idle so it was dead on 60 hz. It came in a little high.

I got the 4000w model. You are right about it lasting 24 hours. I fill it twice and do an oil change. Its only been used once for a two hour outage. Other than that I am coming up on 75 hours, 73 of which have been maintenance runs. Hz fluctuates a little as you would expect. But well within acceptable range.

When I have the new machine I'll likely get a 100 lb tank so I can get a full day out of it before changing tanks. I'm going for the dual fuel 7500 running watts with push button start. Old that we are. That will handle the whole house. I have chopped the bejeebers out of our electricity usage.

I only need to run two pellet stoves, a tv, a fridge and freezer. In the summer its the sump pump rather than the stoves. Lights are nothing 10w each maybe.

No sump pump, but a well pump, a boiler, whole house is led lights, freezer/refrigerator,electric stove, electric dryer, washer. The load center can get its juice from the lines or from the generator via an interlock so I can lock out things when on the genny.
