Going to cut several of them before it's over. this water oak is about 20 inches across. Didn't cut it till about one O'clock this afternoon, got about half of it cleaned up.
It made a crash, it was a willow oak and the roots was getting in my septic tank and clogging it up. I planted that tree years ago when it was about four feet tall and a straight stick about the size of my little finger.
It wasn't much of a shade tree, those skinny willow oak leaves were a pain to get up too. I have wanted to cut it for a few years now. just decided to do it today for some reason. Guess this episode here made me do it. Had to get the septic tank pumped out and unclogged from the roots of it. It was a mess and I hate using a shovel.lol had to take the concrete lid off it to suck it out.
And working in the woods for me, brings a certain level of pride in the knowledge that I'm doing something that… most folks won't/can't have anything to do with such a risky, dirty, sweaty, physical activity, just to get pieces of wood full of bugs to burn in a primitive stove that smells bad… and yeah, it's still fun…
Probably good to have disposed of that tree before it leafed out. I just seems so much easier to clean it up when the leaves aren't on it. Especially a crown like that.
