    Ive done some reading here and there and it sounds like it’s hollow already? Is this true? Also is there anything to gain by doing some sort of a mod to it?

    Yes. Open the existing hole all you can without cutting th deflector off or add a 2nd port. I cut the original off and make it as big as possible and weld another deflector on

    Almost always beneficial to open up flow a bit. Allows hot gasses to exit the saw quicker, which is a good thing.

    You cut the original off... as in the deflector? Then open the stock outlet and weld a new deflector in? Just so I got it

    Makes a good bit of difference. I just went out the front & used the muffler bracket to hold a spark screen on mine.

    How’s that as far as blowing on the wood and getting back in your face? This is going to be my main work saw. Although I’d love to get a hold of one to make into an angry toy :D:saw:

    Not bad on exhaust blowback. It will get the bark hot in long cuts.

    View the 2-stroke piston ported engine as an “air pump” ... more air thru the throat and out the a-hole and you get more power (albeit more fuel used) ... muffler mods are an inexpensive way to get “free” power ... couple that with a nice sharp chain and let the chips fly !

    That's my favorite style too. In this vid, you can see it making the log hot. If you stay on the same place for an extended time, it can scorch the log if dry. I've never had any issues with it blowing chip or debris back on me.

    Here’s another question... :sherlock::sherlock:
    is there a thread or can anyone explain why the XTorq engine is different? This saw is less than a year old so it’s the newer style of the 372.

    Not questioning the muffler mod in general since all my other saws I’ve done it to with great results!! :D More just specific to the newer 372 since they were supposedly an “open” muffler to start with as well as the engine design.

    241c “mighty mite” with some “flow-enhancements” a sharp “razer” chain ... a lot of peeps go for “power” without devoting study to the chain ... I’ve seen some “ported” saws that get their dupa handed to them by a muffler-mod ; proper tuning and most importantly; a SHARP chain !!!

    Xtorq is a strato charged cylinder. IE it pushes fresh air ahead of the fuel charge in the cycle. In theory....

    Edited for autocorrect.

    I almost bought one of those 365 specials over the summer, but I wasn’t thinking like a true hoarder and missed out :(

    So there’s some vacuum drawing in fresh non fuel mixed air from a separate port (not through the carb) that basically “flushes” the exhaust out to leave a clean cylinder for the fuel/air charge

    Here is a 362c with a “shotgun” exhaust- stock piston/cylinder ... NO PORTING ... just a VERY sharp “Razer” RS chain squarefiled

    Right. On the 372xt all the air goes through the carb. It's just divided. On some there is a completely different passageway. Like a 550xp
