Above freezing and no wind or rain this morning on the walk. Shadow came with us but Cricket stayed under the covers at home. Last day of work this week and then only two weeks left until Christmas break. I think more than one person will be getting the traditional unfinished gift this year. Usually it is only one. We will see how far I get on Sunday. Got our FHC calendars yesterday. They are looking good.

The brave ones are spooky. My previous home (neighborhoods bordering a state park) had yotes, outdoor cats did not last long between the yotes and owls. The creepiest was having to hear them hunting at night, then the bunny or fawn screaming in terror for so long, something you can't unhear. I don't hear them out here thankfully, just see one once in a while.

There was a popular cake recipe in the 70's that use those, and we all know you're a great cook!

I worked at a vet clinic in a humane society, a bullet is more humane. But... Whatever method you choose from beetlekill's cousin who knew someone that had a cousin and tried all the different methods, do what it takes to make your family and pets safe :) Also good chance they are brave with your neighbors too, they'll probably appreciate it.

it definitely makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up when their noise reaches a crescendo. Thankfully, I havent had to hear the prey screaming.

I had no idea, but we're supposed to get 4-6" of snow tomorrow, first snow of the year. I guess I need to finally wrap things up in the backyard today. Maybe put away the umbrella and patio furniture.

Might be a good idea to put the plow on the truck and make sure it works too. :hair:

Got home and went to grab the truck keys.....and their missing. Tore the house apart looking for them, then finally gave up and ended up drilling out the ignition cylinder and putting an old one I had in it. First time in 8 year that I finally had a single key for the locks and ignition...so much for that! Now I need to grab some new lock cylinder from the junkyard. Any luck, maybe Ill find a something with a good ignition too. :headbang:

plow is on, and I think Im ready.

I never watch the news, so I didnt realize that it had been added to the forecast until I saw the winter storm warning alerts on the highway signs this morning. Last I saw there was just two rain events earlier in the week.

Some years back coyotes/coydogs got a small dog from someone’s yard on the mountain 1/2 mike across from us. A few nights later at about ten at night it suddenly sounded like a war zone. It went on for at least five minutes nonstop. Haven’t had coyotes back here since. They used to scare the deer so bad they would stay in our yards to feed the yearlings at night while two does had their heads on swivels as lookouts. At that point they weren’t even afraid if you passed by them walking a dog.

We found out this morning when our son called up and let us know. I don’t watch the weather reports either and sometimes go online to check it.

I usually will check it at the beginning of the week on the weather app on my phone, mainly to get an idea if I am going to need to throttle the stove back at some point due to a warmup. Though, now that its winter, I guess I need to increase the frequency.

My original thought was to keep it in my van so I could make coffee on the go. That stuff is so bad I didn’t drink it so then I started mixing it with regular coffee but 2 teaspoons is too much even for that because it’s so strong. Now I’m just drinking it with lots of creamer but m 8oz mug is 1tsp so ya it’s gonna be a year before it’s gone....
