Climate Change Expo in Augusta on the 12th… never fails, these events always seem to get nailed by… "climate change"… very inconvenient I would think… This is nuts! Our local weather guy said as much as 8"-12" … but Al Roker just said areas in Maine and NH could get as much as 18". Ugh. Even I'll admit this is getting old. If we hadn't had 2 major warm ups this winter (and I hated both) we'd have 5' of base snow I'll bet. I know some of you had more too. What an incredible winter… I am, at least, very grateful I'm feeling pretty good these days, so I'll use it as another good workout to burn more lard off me azz…
I think down my way we will be spared any double digit snow totals, maybe even some rain. Towards the weekend looks nice, mid 40's
2 years ago this week we had 80+ degrees here... I get confused are they claiming global cooling or warming this year?
Fortunately for us, most of this storm should miss. Just to our south they are saying maybe 1-2" at most. Less than an inch for us. Hooray!
I for one believe global warming is happening. Just my opinion. Don't claim to know what is going to happen. Global warming has the potential to give us much more complicated things than temperature change. Doesn't matter if it is sped up by mankind, is totally natural cycles, or both. It is happening. Almost every climate expert and scientist agree, the planet is getting warmer. I doubt you or I know more than they do about it. Not saying we are all going to die. No one knows what the effects will be, and how severe they will be. Let's hope they are not too severe. We will just have to wait and watch. Sort of like politics. We won't change each others mind.
Something to consider, with no politics at all. When a scientist says the science is settled… he's no scientist. Real scientists know nothing is ever "settled".
I would agree with that. But I don't think they are saying it is settled. They are saying that test after test after test is showing them that it is happening. What is causing it is a matter of .......... Theory, being tested and re-tested until the consensus of scientist can not disprove. Seems to me that has happened. But, I'm no expert, THAT is for sure.
Wouldn't you have loved to be a fly on the wall on that ship in Antactica that got stuck in the ice? They were re-tracing Shackleton's ill fated quest to show how warm it's gotten, and then how much easier it would be to follow Shackleton's route now… because there's no ice now… you know… cause of warming. I heard the cost of the recovery was going to be in the millions… now, that's special… at least no tax payers on the hook at all… perfect.

Thing is when they decide to cherry pick which data to use they can make the models say whatever they want. (climategate emails)
I here ya. It will be interesting to see what storms happen this year. I hope none that are too bad. Don't like to see that. I also hope the southwest gets some much needed rain this year. The drought out there is bad.
When I hear the news constantly beat the warming drums saying how bad the droughts are now in the sw parts of the US, I can't help but think that's what happens when you build cities… in the desert. Millions of people that need water in… a desert. Talk about a double whammy. No water to start with, then add a constantly growing need. Nothing new about the terrible lack of rain there now either. Check out the "Dust Bowl" stories from years ago… before SUVs. And about how expensive the storms are now, compared to years back. Must be AGW causing that expense, right? I'm 59 and have seen lots of hurricanes and tornadoes tear people's lives apart. Always has, always will. It's so much more expensive now because of 3 main things… everything costs a lot more than it did even 10 years ago, many people have built more homes right on the water's edge and, there are a lot more people. Treat Mother Nature like she's something we can "control" and … stand back…
