Man its been it cold cold long winter. 20 to 40 degree temps I'm ready to get out and get some splitin done now. Pretty bad when you get spring fever when it gets up to 20

It's funny how we start to adjust to colder temps. With the weeks of single digits and teens we had around here this winter, if it get's into the 30's it feels warm to me now.
40 degs right now, shorts and t shirt weather, temps are going to sink again though highs of apx 20 lows around 10 still warm in comparison to what was.
My wife saw some geese today. We normally have spring birds returning by this time but those geese are it so far for us.
Birds galore here last few days. We have had a peacock by our front window each morning for about 2 weeks now. It hit 63º today and it's 81º in the house right now. Supposed to be down to 38º by morning but I can't dare put anything in the stove tonight or we'll have to open a window.
I've been in that predicament, and this stuff here is so screwy, 48 here today and tomorrow night it is going down below zero And more snow on the way WTF
Thousands of geese here now, coming your way. We have had Robins all winter which is strange for this area.
The songbirds are returning more and more each day here now......have had robins for several weeks now and several huge flocks of geese. It was 65° here yesterday, supposed to only be low 20's tomorrow with lows in the singles......and more SNOW! I'm officially ready for spring, but I have a feeling this "yo-yo" weather will stay with us right through April. I hope it isn't a cold summer this year!!
We have a flock of about 30+ geese that don't migrate. Not uncommon to see a robin or two all Winter long that didn't leave, but this year there has been a whole flock of them. The chorus of pinkletinks/March peepers hasn't started yet and it's not uncommon to hear them start the end of February. The red winged blackbirds are back though screeching from the marsh and treetops as they are wont to do. Haven't seen one in a birdfeeder yet though.
Last weekend I tried to split wood. It was warm enough but I was slopping around in the mud. I put down a pallet to stand on while I split. It got to the point I just went back to the house and grabbed a hard cider and a cigar and relaxed. The ground dried up enough 3 days later and I got some work done. Cold frozen ground has its benefits but so does warm weather.
No geese here yet that I have seen. No robins. UGH! Q: When should you buy a bird? A: When it’s going cheep!
We have ducks and geese here all year round even in the coldest weather. Robins and starlings showed up a few days ago. And it was 62 here yesterday and will be dropping to 6 tonight. That's a swing for sure. Temps the next week are kind of all over the place but mostly in the 30-40 range.
No geese yet. Have had finches, pileateds, screechowls, barn owls,raven etc all winter, but the migratory birds are starting to arrive. I was rather surprised, since it is still so cold, lots of snow, lake frozen. But I guess their entire range is pretty bad this year, so maybe they are just keeping heading to their summer homes despite the cold. No inducement to stay over farther south, because it is the same there? The crows were going crazy yesterday. Heard but didn't see some smaller woodpeckers. And had the great pleasure of meeting my first outdoor mosquito of the year on Monday. Always get a few in the house during the winter, from thawing wood. Killed one yesterday, as a matter of fact. Thinking with all this moisture it will be bad year for mosquitoes. My children claim, during bad years, that they are thick enough to carry you away. Hard to work in the woods once the leaf cover provides the shade they like.
