    Determining Ideal Indoor Humidity Levels
In general, indoor humidity levels between 35 and 45 percent are considered acceptable, but when asking the question “What should the humidity be in my house?,” it’s important to take into account the season. If your home is 70 degrees inside and the temperature outside is under 20-40 degrees, you should keep the humidity under 40 percent. For each 10-degree reduction in the outside temperature below 20 degrees, the maximum humidity level inside should decrease by 5 percent."

    Walnut
    Cherry
And a split or two of honey locust

I had a huge 1mile+ access road we put in for a job 2yrs ago up a mountsin and I had all the wood trailered back to the house. I got umpteen cords of the mix lol

Left work green grass 35 no snow. 30 minute drive home straight west. About half way encountered a 1/2” or so with flurries. Then the last 2 minutes hit a blizzard blowing snow and have about 6” on the ground still warm at 33 though. Good old WNY lake effect! Oh 70 inside strip steak stew on and no burn until later plenty of heat left from the morning splits.
The snow just falling at this point 8856D89D-B0D4-49D5-8FB3-88BE1FB76A55.jpeg

This is our first. Used to start around Halloween my how the weather patterns have shifted! They predicted 12-30” by Saturday but as of this morning they down graded to a few today and tommorrow so If we hit 12” that will be a lot.

I didn’t there was a ‘Should’ as it was based on how comfortable you are. I will need to do a litte math and put a chart up for this. I have no problem putting humidity in the house.

Yeah, but as you mentioned, too much humidity isn't a good thing.
Seems like there are rules for everything, eh?
My wife complains how dry the house is every winter. We're sitting at 33% right now.

I was going to top off when I got home from work around 3:00, but saw the owb kick on and do its thing as I was pulling up the drive, and it only took a few minutes to raise the temp back up from 165 to 175. Asked Mrs Papi why she loaded the stove, said she didn't.. just came out to check wood level, still have identifiable splits from 23hrs ago. Woo!

Sunny and 44 here today with no wind - if we had that all winter I'd only go through 8 cord! Probably helped that Mrs Papi didn't raise temp up from overnight setting of 65. 24 hrs on hemlock and two little splits of black birch is pretty sexy.

30deg with a 30mph sw wind ... heavy lake effect snows comin my way off Lake Erie ... 12-36 inches expected but 3 years ago we got almost 7 ft ! When the cold Canadian air blows across the warm 45degree Lake it’s unbelievable the amount of snow you can get ! Got some 2 yr seasoned red-oak and shagbark hickory goin now ... about 64 in here

stay warm Fabz those lake effects make snow azz deep in a hurry!

32 out 76 in loaded birch and cherry.

FatBoy85 no offense to you brother but whoever wrote that humidity thing was a westcoast or warm weather person.. 20 below or less is not uncommon and at those Temps there is no humidity outside.. so at minus 20 or lower you house should be 10 percent humidity.. not healthy...

How much snow is on the ground? Time wise, it's not early. It just seems early due to the relatively warm Fall we've had.

We might get snow this weekend. We'll see.

I don't have a humidity meter in the house. I know it's too dry though.

I have to get my aquarium set up on the main level of the house. That will help with raising the humidity.

94 ? My lord ! You must have a wood-fairy to cut/split/stack for you ! I keep my place from 56-65 and burn about 6 face / season ... if I wanted 90 my wood consumption would be 3x

It was probably about 5-6 inch snowfall to that point. but with the wind, way too many bare spots.

Now today, so far, got an easy additional 8" maybe more and the wind was less. The ground is covered totally again.

As I was going out shoveling for the second time today, I was thinking of how just on Monday, there was still a yard full of bare ground! We had temps in the upper 40's when we went to bed that night. Tue, woke up to lots of wind, and about 3-5" or so of snow with nothing but ice underneath it. It quit snowing shortly after daylight and just pretty much blew everything around for the rest of the day. But to see a groomer out rushing the season....naw. They should've waited just 12 more hours and done it right.
