I think they may have had a roller on the back instead of the drag/sled setup. But with the wind we had, it was pretty much useless to even go out! BTW, Not so much the trolls....more fibs. gophers. and cheddarheads! (Gotta love 'em)
27 with a southwest wind (breeze) with low 40's guessed at for a high. Chunked a bunch of ash in that greedy hungry beast out back last nite. Be safe out there.
48F and trending down. Back up to 70f I'm the house after leting the stove go cold. Does it still count as relighting from coals if I relight the coals with a torch before loading in the wood?
Winter finally showed up! We were close to 60 the other day then the front passed through and highs dropped into the lower 20's with a nasty wind. It s nice to get out of the shoulder season long burn mode and into a hotter fire 3 load per day routine.
Cooling off in central Indiana as well. I'm going to let the stove eat today and burn up some of last years left overs. Black walnut and mulberry are the diet today.
-12 real feel and the snow is falling again. 3" overnight...just enough to have to shovel. There is a West wind that'll switch over to WNW a little later on. Temps only in the low teens for highs, wind chill will remain all day.
Temperate on wake up, 68 in the house rh at 37% , 32 outside with 82%. Windy yet clear from the North, car is coated in ice. The chunky monkey fire was last night. I realized my wood bin needs a refill but likely to just let it all burn before doing that. There’s another bin in the garage holding pallet wood and dirty scraps needing disposal. Perfect week to burn that and get the box ready with slightly larger kindling.
Hopefully I have enough time left to burn the remainder of my shoulder wood that Ive already put on the porch before calling up the big guns.
Yup! Still getting it today. 5"-6" at this point, but a lot easier to shovel than the stuff yesterday. Wind chill still below zero, but barely. -6 feel with 16 normal.
Snowing like crazy. About 8" overnight. Thompson Pass is closed due to avalanches by burying the highway 31° F. Poplar.
Currently sitting at -23 C, feels -30 C ( -10 F feels -22 F). Blue skies and crisp air, and the stove is chugging along nicely. Waiting on the big warm up that's supposed to hit tomorrow.
It was 32 out and 70 in this morning with a trace of snow on the ground. Ran some random species of old stuff I’ve been working on burning up. Think a piece of cherry, basswood and soft maple. The wind whipped up last night after dark 20-30mph gusts to 50 and still carrying on a little quieter now with snow and 35ish
