Maybe but <some> VC stoves deserve a bash or three. They have been all over the place regarding quality and workmanship over the years. The originals were very nice stoves but several sales of the company later and the quality of the castings on some of them was truly awful. I understand they have come way back from those low quality days but honestly do not know how they are these days.

Welcome, it's pretty cool here. My new favorite reading material during my down time at work. It's funny how I came here from "another" forum as well and pretty much forgot about BK until this thread. It's not that it bugs me, but only one of their stoves is truly visually appealing (Ashford) and I think the rest are butt ugly. Some advertise a 40 hr burn time on low. That's pretty cool, but does anyone ever actually burn on low for 40 hours? During shoulder season I'd guess? How long do they burn on high?

I’ve been to one of the VC factories on a tour for a work project. This was 3-4 years ago. I felt the quality control was top notch. I think-around that timeframe- the problems centered on the stove design. Air manifolds that didn’t hold up- stuff like that.

Great- they used to make a very nice stove and there is no reason why they could not now, no matter where the company is (or what company owns the name now) nor does it matter where the castings are made. If a company truly wants to make a top quality product, it is still possible. So if VC is back, great!

Well- they may still be using the same designs, I’m not sure. I was just impressed with the assembly line and quality control. I’ll also state that they have reduced production in that factory since then and moved more to another one, Kentucky maybe. ALSO since then I think the employees bought the company. Big changes for them.

Actually could care less what flavor stove we all use. As long as everyone plays together nicely! This is a great site for reference and guidance. Super group. With a nice sense of humor to boot!

I think the biggest difference here is that while there is obviously plenty of stove topic threads, probably 80% or more of the threads on this forum revolve around what we actually put IN the stove. What you feed it into is secondary.

I can confirm that when I load the firebox full of Ash and Mulberry, the cat is still in the active range after 12 hours burning with the thermostat set about 90 degrees down from full hot. I have never run the thing wide open for more than an hour because the second floor of my house was approaching 80 degrees by then.

Thank you and I love that install.

So, since you've read many of my old posts on that other forum, you too have been around for a goodly amount of time. We're happy you have come here.

I came over from the old site about 2 years after jumping ship over there and not reading any forums for that duration. I had no idea this site existed until 2014 and I recognized some of the names over here. It's a hell of a lot better than the other place. Nobody is smelling their own smug farts over here.
