Plenty of bias here, just like anywhere. Only here, you can be biased and not have to fear being attacked for your particular bias. We all have our preferences, but seldom are you going to see someone get mean over it. Difference of opinion is good, it nurtures new thinking and perspectives. No need to get nasty over it though. :tip: We are just normal folks from all over the place, sharing ideas, knowledge and our personal adventures in wood gathering. Oh, and this crowd loves pictures....of tractors and stacks and saws and stoves and pets and wood haulers and splitters and tools and funny stuff. :ithappened:

    Welcome to the forum Sutphenj14

Just came from another site? You are not alone as many on this forum originally came from another forum when it took a strange turn. But we hold no grudges.

As for the BK stoves, many members here have them and seem to get along just fine with them. I'm certain they are like many others in that they have both plus and minus things about them. That does not make them bad nor super good and many can help you with that stove.

I thought perhaps you might be the fellow I spoke with on the phone but he is from Holland rather than GR. He was a good chap and we had a good discussion. I hope he, like you come to join this forum as we have many knowledgeable people here and have room for many more.

Thanks for the warm welcome all....i appreciate it. I'm a newbie with this season being my first with a stove. Not a newbie though in terms of the holy grail taught to me while skimming the other site years ago by backwoods himself....the 3yr plan. I waited my turn and busted hump to get ahead. Hopefully smooth sailing from here on out. Here is a pic of the black stallion with a rear exit install. A pellet stove used to sit here from the previous owners. They put in a massive split field stone wall (20ft up) with a footer for a chimney and chase out back but never finished the project so to speak (i.e. fireplace). Good news for me as that meant a wood stove install. She drafts like a champ. Overall chimney height was around 23 ft. 20171205_183347.jpg 20171121_172648.jpg

Nice! My first year too. Not to burning as a whole but stove-wise yes.

Welcome, and yep, this is a pretty nice forum. No gigantic egos, no GOO ROOS who will 'straighten you out' so what is left is basically normal people with an interest in burning wood.

There may be a bias here toward Woodstock Soapstone but certainly no ridiculous lies- fueled obsession. But there are also lots of threads about many other stove makes and models, and again, no one gets knocked for saying anything about any of them, mentioning which one(s) he / she likes or uses, etc. There are some interesting threads about people who have used more than one type of stove and the great thing is that even if one type / brand / model is preferred, it does not mean the other brand(s) have to be knocked.

There are threads here about Blaze Kings, and anyone is free to start one at any time too.

That is really very nice looking with the stove sitting on a piece of glass. I have never seen that done before but I like it a lot.

Blaze King, can run hotter than a blast furnace in hell, or idle along cooler than an outhouse in Alaska. Magic only wishes it was called Blaze King. The first guy who ever loaded one is still waiting to reload, 17 years and 40 hours later. In the Yukon. And that was with punky willow and wet paper towels. You should see what it will do with real wood. That about covers it.

It does a ridiculously good job of keeping my 5,000 sq ft house warm, but there's a healthy appetite to feed to achieve that performance.

I heard they will go a full winter on just a kitchen match!:D

All in good fun though, Blaze King seems to be an excellent stove and gets a lot of respect (real respect, not back- handed compliments) on this forum. A B.K.K. was on my short- list when shopping stoves three years ago. Ended up not buying one but not because it was deficient or there were any deal- killers about it; I just chose something else that I thought would work better for me.

But honestly, I cannot think of any brand that gets bashed on this forum. ?? All seem to be accepted and the high points of each model picked out rather than a particular stove getting picked on.
