Today is day 1 of me quitting. Need to get a life insurance policy for a business loan, and I need to quit anyway, so I'm giving it a shot. Been smoking since '95. Should be tough, but I have to do it.
Good for you man. Now that you told us, you gotta follow through. You're not a smoker, so you got this.
Thanks...I have an odd addiction anyway. I never smoke during the day. It's only in the 2 hours before bed that I basically chain smoke. Given that I can go all day without cravings, hopefully, it's a mental addiction only.
Makes me glad I never tried it, I have an addictive personality. I am only protected from alcohol because of its awful taste.
Good for you...saved you from wasted money and unknown health problems later on. Cigs are a killer...literally.
Oh My. good thing it is late at night LOL On another note, firecracker, have you tried drinking lots of water when the craving hits? I know just before bedtime is not the ideal time to be doing that but the sooner you flush the nicotine out of your system the better. Having a buddy to phone or to talk to helps as well. I wish you the best in your fight to quit.
I don't drink or smoke. My two brother had ETOH issues, but I am too cheap to buy it. I am allergic to tobacco. But, I have a long journey too. I am just too fat and that is as potentially harmful as your smoking. I am trying, and slowly it is working. You can do it, stay busy. You will be surprised about how much better you are going to feel. (And you will be saving some money!)
We all have problems to over come and it really helps to share when it gets tough. This thread is our way of supporting you through this.
My biggest motivation aside from the obvious is that I came down with type 1 diabetes almost 2 years ago. Smoking is doubly bad if you have pre-existing conditions. savemoney....gotta' get that weight down for sure. it does all sorts of things to the body...i'm sure you will
Good for you. I quit after 20 yrs, 10 years ago. Best decision I have ever made. That 1st month is a bear, just stick it out! I went cold turkey, no patches or nicotine gum. You can do it!
I quit smoking about 5 years ago. I used the same method that Dwight Eisenhower did........ although I was a very mild smoker compared to what he was. You can do it man.
From what I have read, as soon as you quit smoking your body starts to repair itself. You are young enough to have many years of repairing ahead of you. Hope day 2 goes well.
I quit cold turkey. Just pictured myself a non-smoker and just never let go of that image of myself. I tried to quit for years. I could go all weekend but would have to have one by 9 on Monday morning.
