So frustrated. At least FHC keeps my spirits up. Riding the train to work has been a great thing for me. Well I found the one negative so far. Coming home last week I sat next to a guy that was having a constant coughing fit. This guy should have called out sick in my opinion to save the rest of us from getting infected. Now I have a head cold that is quickly turning into a bloody chest cold.

Now colds don't normally bother me. A minor nuisance. However; with dad having cancer, I have to stay away from him. His immune system is down, and the last thing I need to do is get him sick. It frustrates me as I make sure I don't touch my face, wash my hands right after getting off the train, and practice good hygiene. All year I have been healthy. Of all times of the year for me to get sick, this is not the time.

Ever since sitting next to this guy I've been taking Airborne to nuke my system hoping that I'd avoid this. Unfortunately chit happens. Now I sit her in bed thinking I have several days I needs to stay away from my dad to make sure he does not get sick from me.

Still taking the airborne. Adding trusty old Sudafed and Mucinex to the mix. I've been a strong believer in Alka-seltzer in the past. Though that is when I don't mind a cold taking it's usual path.

Over the recenbt summers, I have been blessed with a summer cold. That seems to be the worst time....

I wonder if it has anything to do with getting the flu shot each fall?

I personally don't do the flu shot. Yes I know that many disagree with my personal choice not to do the flu shot.

I was getting a cold every time I flew International or even cross country , Spending the first 4 to 10 days of vacation with a nasty cold is NFG, so a week to ten days before I go I start taking vitaminC and Guaifenesin (Musinex) daily and knock on wood the last 4 or 5 flights I've been cold-free.

In the past 4 years of not taking the flu shot I've not had the flu. Colds yes. Going back to when I would get the flu shot, I'd still get the flu. Instead I've completely changed my approach. Switching from getting the flu shot to better hygiene practices. Don't touch your face. Wash your hands after being in public places. This has completely reduced my total number of sick days significantly. This does not mean that I am Felix Unger.

I’ve heard that “ColdEZE” has the highest amount of Zinc, the most effective ingredient in these over the counter offerings.

Careful with those zinc nasal swabs, I've read that those can cause loss of smell...sometimes permanently. FDA has made Zicam pull some of their zinc cold remedy products already...
