Crap. I hope we don't see those amounts of snow. We got 2-3 here last night, it looks like from inside anyway. This morning it is pretty warm. Mid 20's and straight Ash burning in the boiler. Still had some good size wood bones in there from last night. Not as much demand at these temps.
All this talk of more snow has got me thinking this winter is never going to end. We are supposed to get mostly rain out of this coming storm, but I'll believe it when I see it. They've been way off on their temperature forecasts this year. A little delay in the storm arriving could spell a big dump coming our way as temps drop again.
We had a good 4-5 inches of snow if not more, the temp was 24 this morning so we're burning Cherry. Wednesday could be a mess.
Turned out we had around 4" too woodlands. I had to brush my truck off because I have been babying my tractor by putting it in the garage. (Don't tell anyone! ) Right now it is raining/snowing. About 30°.
+ 3c=+38f right now and a nice sunny day with some Elm in the stove this morning. But now they are calling for up to 10 inch of the white stuff tomorrow?
Yesterday was 40 degrees, two smaller fires with Cherry, it's in the 30's today so we'll burn a few fires with the Cherry.
Warmer here now but a little cooler today and tomorrow, wood usage back to normal for this time of year.
42° in the Jeep, but Accuweather says 40. Don't know what the probe thermo reads. It's nice though. Had a 4 piece pine fire earlier, and the house is 73. I'll wait a while to reload.
45 here burning elm splits and ash branches, 78 inside. 1 window halfway open for the cat to watch the squirrels outside
Letting the Fv go out today, it got up to 55 this afternoon. Tomorrow it's supposed to be colder but still above freezing and rain in the afternoon and turn to snow at night. Thursday is going to be nasty, cold and 55mph winds. Warming over the week-end and then a cold next week. Fun..... on the bright side, the 50s sure did feel good today. I will be posting pics of scooter rides soon.
Right around 28° this morning. Boiler is calling for heat much less with these temps. Ash and some Cherry keeping us nice and warm. All is quiet outside, the calm.........
18F, supposed to go down to 3 tonight. Yesterday was 44 F, lots of melt. Had, for the first time I ever remember, pools of water right against the foundation, on the side of the house. Not roof runoff. The snow near h house melted because it was warmer, the 3 foot mounds a foot away did not, and trapped the water. You could skate on my road this morning before the snow started. The saving grace after all but one of our thaws followed by deep freezes or ice events of this winter has been the immediate subsequent snowfall, which has made the footing not quite so treacherous. I found myself yesterday having a hard time believing I could actually go out in a sweatshirt.
Now there is a change. Someone else was saying they had a huge temperature change in another thread. Huge drops. Our temp only went to 40 or 42 yesterday. Nice though, nice.
Digging a trench through snow banks like that will allow for drainage. I paid with a flooded basement in my first house because of a heavy rain onto snow banks like that. Ever since then I've been sure to keep a drain cut in the snow so that water can get out and not pond behind the snow.
