Found it on offer up today, $200. Seems to be in good shape and all original. Stihl yellow chain too 16" .325.
speaking of sigs.. bang got 2 026 and 026 pro so obviously needed a 261.. AND he does NOT have CAD! hoard on great saw at good price
I told my wife I was going to pick up a saw and she said "why do you need another saw?" I didn't have a good answer and still don't but I'll have the 261 in wood tomorrow and if it's better than my 026's I'll be smiling from ear to ear. I love my 026's
I prefer my 261 over the 026 You did great those are still 600.00 here. Mines been excellent i bought it when they first came out.
Nice catch there buddy, it also decent looking and the price.... I hope it runs as good as it looks. Sounds like my wife, i just keep telling her: A saw for every treesize is what you need, thank god their all different. She still doesnt understands.
When I saw the ad it was $250 and I probably would have bought it. When I came in after cutting firewood for supper he had dropped it to $200. I messaged him I was on the way, about a 40 mile trip. I was concerned it might be stolen but he had me come to his house and after talking to him I'm satisfied it's legitimate.
Nice find. So whats the holdup on sinking it into wood? I've been know to bring my own rounds while chainsaw shopping.
That's definitely a you suck! I've been looking for a deal on a 261 for a while (can't justify $600 for a new one). I think I just want to compare it to my 026/260, or CAD is taking over my life! Let us know how it compares to your 026...
Ok, here's the results of a mini test on the 261c with yellow .325 chain. The chain looked to be freshly sharpened so I tried it on a log in the pile before heading to the woods, it cut straight and had nice chips. took an 026 and 261c . Maybe not a fair comparison because the 026 has 3/8 safety chain and it's muff modded. The 261 started on the 2nd pull and restarted on the 1st pull every time. I didn't time anything but I don't think the 261 was as fast in the pig nut hickory and ash that was 10 to 14 inch diameter. What I think was happening was the 3/8 chain was cutting bigger chips and in the small wood made it faster. I can make the 026 bogg down pushing with the spikes dug in but the 261 never bogged once. I think in bigger wood the 261 would be equal to or better than the 026. I will get a better idea when I cut the 261 side by side with my other 026 that has a .325 but is also muff modded.
If you equip the 261 with 3/8 I'm certain it will readily outcut your 026. Sent from my SM-S320VL using Tapatalk
Not yet, I haven't cut any firewood for a week. I'll do a back to back with the 026 and 261 both with 16" .325 hopefully this week. You would think an old retired guy would have unlimited time to do whatever he wants but for some reason it doesn't work that way.
