Item: PILTZ Stihl MS180 CE Easy Start CHAINSAW HOT SAW 18 inch bar and Chain Perfect

    URL: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=360866996656

A saw like this in its "never been offered to the public before form"

Who would of thought a ms170 running g a rim drive and 18" bar and a chisel chain would cut that well. Maybe were doing it wrong and he is onto something. We should throw out 440/460 and 660s out and just run chisel chain on ms170-250s they cut old growth so well. Look at his pics.

Guys, just had an idea and I don't think it's been mentioned here before. It would be really cool if you guys could donate/plant a few trees down that way. Maybe some park that has been ravaged by the EAB. Just a thought, but it would be nice if a group like ours could make a move towards more trees in the world, give wood cutters a better name. Might even get some publicity.

Thats the problem with the uneducated public. None of them realize there is 10s of thousands more forested acres today than there was 150 years ago.

We really dont need more trees. I'm not saying cut every tree or never replant or that CITIES dont need more trees. But the USis far from lacking trees .

Most probably dont see them since like 75% of our population lives like within 25miles of a city.

Total agreeance. We are not lacking on trees, but the public has difficulty understanding that we are managing the wooded areas, not decimating them. I think it would still be good for us, even if its just symbolic.

Perception is reality and if the public feels that way then where is the harm in doing something that could help change some of those opinions. Doing something is always better than doing nothing...

I dont worry. I clear cut plenty of acres but 4-6x as many trees are planted in their place.

Yea come to my house and plant some walnut trees so that in 29 years I can post for someone to come pay me to cut my trees out of my yard but they must have insurance and take the stamps with them .

Yeah...some of those post are great!

FREE WOOD...I have a 200 year old Oak tree hanging halfway off the side of a cliff with the other half directly over my house. Come cut it down, clean up and haul away the wood for free!

Well I just bought a GoPro Hero camera from a guy at work, barely used, for a couple bucks!!!! I'll plan on bringing it and some extra batteries/SD cards........

We can drop that pine ans maybe use that log for cookies, no? Also use that log for the two - man crosscut sawing?

Yes that's what I was thinking too, I just stopped home for lunch, I'll snap a few pics of potential trees to take down.

Tree #1 pine on the left with top broken out of it probably 24" at the base. This is the one I want to take down with the bowsaw. Easy drop, with a line on it we have two different ways to safely drop it. Close to my barn but very easy to avoid.

Tree #2 silver maple. Fairly easy drop, it's already leaning away from the road and nothing is in the way for where it is leaning and needs to drop. This one is stating to rot at the base and needs to come down. Tree is in the middle to the right in pic #1.

Tree #3 sugar maple. Difficult drop this one is overhanging the house and is dead, we had talked about having Scott climb this one and piece it down. He is coming out a day early and can take a look to see if it's something he wants to do or not. Once a few of the upper branches on the left are off it can be dropped away from the house. Tree is the one in the middle of the pic not the closest tree.

Tree # 2 looks like a good candidate for a bore-cut demo. I like those......

We'll look at possibly piecing that big one down, we'll play it by ear and see how crowded it is and also what the weather is like......

The other two will be easy peasy........

Trees #4&5 these are both pines right against the house but lean away from the house. These two I had planned on keeping because of the shade provided but they make such a mess in the gutters they need to come down. These are both pretty easy drops and if we don't get to them that weekend I don't mind as I can drop these any time. These would make nice logs to cut cookies out of though.
