The lisinopril depletes potassium a diuretic may or may not spare potassium. Ask your doc what is what with your system. I now eat bananas on a regular basis as the boss doesn't serve a lot of potatoes.

HUH? lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, right?

This answer sets it straight-It can retain potassium for some, but not all, sometimes, but not always, maybe, maybe not and only on days that sometimes end in a letter that might be Y :hair:

Do ACE inhibitors affect potassium levels?
Suppression of angiotensin II leads to a decrease in aldosterone levels. Since aldosterone is responsible for increasing the excretion of potassium, ACE inhibitors can cause retention of potassium. Some people, however, can continue to lose potassium while on an ACE inhibitor.

Yeah right, he is not the chatty type. I have a nurses visit in 3 weeks, maybe i can get some answers then.

I miss my old doc who left practicing to become Chief Medical Officer back around 2009-2010 at Catholic Medical Center. He is now the CEO there. Man, everyone loved him as a doc......

Now maybe you understand that medicine is full of ifs and maybes. It ain't exactly a true science. There are hundreds of BP meds none come with guarantees to actually work for you. I hope the low dose not only works for you but continues to work over the long term.

My doc has told me water, tea or coffee (no additives) are fine for fasting bloodwork.

I've always had to fast for 12 hours. I don't know why - I would think it is more important to know the numbers of actual, real time stuff, not after you've flushed a lot of the stuff out of your system.

Yeah, my honey said the same thing about side effects and finding what works without them.

She also said that she was surprised that my doc's office hasnt suggested a BP cuff to keep an eye on what its doing. Her office does.

For certain tests they need to see numbers that havnt been influenced by recent intake. I guess a baseline.

Under the new guidelines you'll be lucky to make it to forty. <120/ <80 is a lot more restrictive than <140/<90.
