Another future project on the way....Should see it next weekend or soon afterwards. At least I have a spot on the shelf for it now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-McC...hainsaws&hash=item338bca2204&autorefresh=true I figure the bar & that cover are worth $20 anyway,so it was worth getting.Cant believe Seller accepted my offer of $60 Missed out on a super clean 895 gear drive monster with like new 1/2" pitch chain & 36" roller nose bar yesterday - Selling price included Free Shipping - it was around $320 near the end,was just starting to bid my max of $360,then at the last second it shot up to $442 & was gone.No big thang, another will show up before long most likely.
Happens a lot. Last few seconds & the bids fly in. I had one that was down to the last 5 sec & it was bid 3 times. I had no time to respond.
5 seconds before closing I started to bid,it then shot over my max.My record of sniping since 2001 is over 90% total wins. I wont say how many thou worth of antique tools but its a fair amount. Some things I really wanted or could afford at the time, others I couldn't justify it right then. And in other cases, the same item popped up months or a few years later for less money. So I waited & watched. Like anything else, patience is the key.I'm in no rush now that I'm getting older.
It is very runnable indeed, but it doesn't see much wood cutting. It's more of a collector piece. Got a big old J-red 111s for all the heavy work, a 2159 for the mid size stuff and I trim with a J-red 525
You get her tuned right and use some good premium NON ETHONOL fuel and she's one mean cutting machine! I've got an older fellow such as myself who helps me cut wood and in turn I help him cut his. We work together really well. Mr. Leon will say don't we need to crank up the old 111s, (he says it's the baddest saw he's ever heard run) One other thing, all my saws are tuned to the max and I run Klotz BeNol 2 stroke oil. Love that castor smell.
I was gonna ask about your Avatar. That is a sweet looking saw! ! Probably the nicest saw I have ever seen. Looks like a futuristic saw from the 70's.
