Farmall 230 Narrow front with a fast hitch. Hours brush hogging, discing, pulling logs with the skidding winch you name it! Originally it had a trip bucket loader on it also.

Perhaps I should have added I grew up on a dairy farm. We had 3 tractors. I was the youngest of 3 boys so always got last pick. Needless to say though that over the years I drove many others.

I'll never forget the old WC. I think it was a late 1940's. I got a telephone pole that was our corner post, on the inside of the tire while mowing when I was a kid. What a ride that was !
I don't know how long I stayed on but I do know I had to run for dad to get it stopped. LOL

Years ago dad purchased an old Allis Chalmers to restore. As he was sanding her back to be repainted he found that it had green paint underneath. Further sanding revealed military serial numbers.

Mum did some research with the Australian war museum and discovered it was built for the American Army and used on Boganville Island during world war 2.

So dad restored it to its original glory and now when they have the Allis Chalmers roundup at Lake goldsmith his is the only one there that is not orange.

My first tractor rides were on an Allis-Chalmers WC. First one I drove myself was a Case VAC, in 1961 or so.

Lol! I grew up around a large(ish) dairy farm and rode on many. Getty Acres Farm
My best friend had grandparents that were 1/4 mile from my house and I helped bail lots of hay. He used John Deere B's and similar. Never drove one though.

That’s awesome! One of my favorite parts of the old iron just trying to dig into the history of it. Where they’ve been what they’ve done.

To this day I honestly don't know if I jumped off or got thrown off. Lucky for sure! I DO remember running down the lane to the house thinking how poorly my dad was going to take the news, and I was right. LOL

First one I drove by myself was a ford 8n, dad had JD LA for awhile and is the first one I remember riding on, it was later traded for a W-4, then my grandfather got a farmall C, I still have the C.

Thanks for posting this and the information too. Not many know how much work AC did for the military back then. This is the first green one I've seen.

Does engaging the clutch on a John Deere A or B when at 4-5 years old when my Grandpa hopped off it quick to pick up some stones count?:D
Moved up to a JD 2010 in the early 60's
