You still running factory 3.54? Ring and pinion ratio? For the record big tires are like fake t%#s. Play with em' awhile then you want a bigger set.

My truck needed tires last fall. I stayed with the stock size. I don't want to lift wood and cargo any higher than I have to. My neighbor needed help unloading a fridge from his lifted Superduty. That was a real treat.

Needs paint. There is spray paint covering rust that I cleaned up. But if I paint it I will feel bad for using it.

No offense but the 12 bolt is a nice way of saying 10 bolt.

So what is the 10 bolt? Did they just put 2 more bolts in it? I was under the impression the 12 was better than the 10 but I know not as good as the 14.

Heck if I had the money why not just out rockWells under it?

The 12 bolt is a slightly beefed up 10 bolt at best. The 14 bolt is made in two diameter ring gears. One is semi float the other is full float. Rock wells and 44 boggers will net ya 18 inches of ground clearance under both pumpkins though!

For clarification the 10,12,14 bolts have "x" number of bolts holding the ring gear to the case ( probably a gov lock/bomb) not the differential cover bolt count as most think is the proper way to distinguish.

10 and 12 bolt do happen to have 10 and 12 ring gear bolts, but a 14 bolt only has 12. (not sure on the 9.5" 14 bolt... Haven't ever messed with one)

Thats what I thought I remembered. Pert persons 4wd has had axle identification articles and I was sure that you counted cover bolts. But I am no expert. Pretty good mechanic but no expert. I also have never built a truck so I am not a component guru.
