28f here, 71 in, just about finished burning down the coals from a load of ash last night. Going to put about half a load of something in the stove and get the bird stuffed, bagged & cooking. HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!!!

Gonna be saving wood this next week for sure. HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL! Remember not to put too much wood in those stoves this morning cause the ovens will be makin' heat today!

Lol I threw two splits of locust on the coal bed this morning then decided I wanted to clean the glass up, so I tossed a few more maple splits on top of it. Needless to say, the doors have been open.

Sitting at -9 c feels -16 C ( 16 F feels 3 F) waiting for temps to jump. Should be some slick roads later!

About 26 here now. Pine and Ash burning in the Gun. Chilly breeze on the walk.

Yeah, I'm still burning, but just not as much, or not as good of wood, btu wise. Well overall at least. The addition of a good hardwood allows me to have more coals. Now, we're not coming at our house today, but we'll be doing our bird in day or 2. Then we'll not need to run the stove. Especially if it will be 55°.

Thats what I noticed from the poplar/aspen we have around here as well. Lots of ash compared to the softwood Im used to burning.

Yes, it makes about 3 times as much ash, but it makes3 times better coals. That and few limbs is why I prefer burning it.

Current temp at the moment is 24°F which is also our expected low tonight. I suspect it will be 5° colder than that. House got real warm today with the woodstove going this am along with the oven for 6 hours. Had to open a window during dinner, but who doesn't have a fire going on Thanksgiving right? Stove has been cold for a few hours, so we'll reload it here in a couple more hours.
