Don’t know, but it’s more than I expected. Mostly punky jackpine and some half-punky birch. I need to get into the woods soon if I’ll have anything to burn next year!
We have burned about 1/3 - 1/2 cord. It was warm here longer than usual. But now we're firing it pretty hard... and... I've burned 0 gallons of HHO this year...and less than a 1/4 tank last year. Such a good feeling.
we actually had a cold end to October here, but still only a face cord. Weather just changed today so it will start to pick up now.
With the OWB, I'd have to say less than a cord so far. It'll be three weeks tomorrow since lighting it. W With the mild temps we have been having, I do not load It up as much as during the dead of winter. At this point, the OWB has less than half a fire in it. I have been doing that the last few years and it has worked out well...still keeps the temps it is supposed to and I save on wood usage.
I think that's what my brother says they do on their CB, load a small pile of short splits right inside the door only.
Getting ready to head out into the windy morning to bring some more wood into the garage...this is my "Miscellaneous Hardwoods" Holz Hausen, which is Cherry, Hackberry, Mulberry, Oak, and Ash. All of it has been seasoning between 2-4 years and is all in the low-teens as far as moisture content. Last round was 50% from this stack, and 50% from my Poplar HH; today will be a 75/25 split in favor of the denser woods, since it's starting to get colder.
About the same here; half a cord. Like you, it's steady burning now for about a week. Guess it's time to fill the garage so I'm not running out for a wheelbarrow load every couple days.
We haven't had much cold weather here in north New Mexico, so only burned about 1/2 of a face cord. It's getting colder, though, and I'm ready!
It's been hard to keep track of how much wood burnt as I'm still burning from a thrown pile of dry wood (with some dodgy) that's tarped outside. It'd be a pretty safe bet to say a 4x4x4 pile has easy been burnt this year, or better. The wood shed is at capacity and is really easy to track wood use week to week once I get there.
Round 2: ready to go! The "Miscellaneous Hardwoods" stack was an absolute mess of uglies, fuglies, and punky nonsense that was gathered before I was a discriminating wood snob...it's a little bit of a challenge to stack a collection of wonky pieces like that!
Have not burned any wood myself this year except outside. I moved back into town about four years ago and stickily sell wood. No fire place or stove. Nice thing is i css, sold over ten cord this year so far! Have another two css and 3 waiting. At least pays for my electric/gas heat.
I used to sell tree length firewood and just buy coal with the money and burn that, (or propane), but now I burn all three; firewood, coal and propane. I have burned about 1/2 a cord of firewood, but it does not count as it is spruce, fir and cedar that I had kicking around, 60 pounds of coal, and no propane at all so far. Compared to last year we are in very good shape. Last year we intended to just burn coal and propane, but our stove crapped out on us, we blew through a staggering amount of propane, and ended up hooking up a wood stove-only in 3 feet of snow. My Grandmother's house had wood in the basement, so we grabbed that, plenty dry as she had been dead for 11 years and it was years before that since it was thrown in, and so we got by, but I never want to do that again. This year we got 6-1/2 cords of wood I have yet to touch in the woodshed, a full tank of propane (500 gallons), but no appreciable amount of coal. I would like to change the latter to have a more fuzzy feeling. These are full cords. Incidentally it takes about 4 cords to heat my super insulated home, but it seems the "hoarding" part of this forum is wearing off on me...
