hej hej all, Just filling up the last wood stack with (green) wood. It is not full yet but got a lot of other things to do, so every day putting a little load on it. What do u guys think, cover the top for the winter or just let it be like it is? Have a nice day all!
Looking good! Once you fill the rack or finish loading what you have I would top cover it. Great pictures, we are looking forward to some snow on the ground here but it probably wont show up until the end of December.
It's up to you, but for me I personally gave up on top cover here except for what I have by the house and I will sometimes tarp the area I will be pulling from over winter. Not saying that's right, wrong or indifferent though. I have way too much wind to keep anything on. That also benefits me though because when the stacks get wet they dry fast.
Yep same here. If I top covered it would be in the next county over from all the wind here and nothing to stop it. Plus like you said if it gets wet the wind will dry it out by the next day.
Looks like you would have a great opportunity to shingle weave the top couple 3 rows. Build up the center stack with splits perpendicular to the stacks a bit to give you some pitch. There was I guy in Sitka that would stack his split wood in a big circle. Must have been 4 cord per unit. It would have a shingle woven top on it of splits. Looked Really nice and apparently worked very well to keep the bulk of the circle all nice and dry inside. He would give the top a few inches of eaves. Very attractive !
It is gorgeous out there. I like the wire idea and will put that to use if you don't mind. Have used most of my scapwood up for walls and floors in the wood shed.
Hej hej all, Just got some time left this afternoon, so splitting time! Covered the stack with some metal plates i got lying around, there is a giant storm comming in tonight, so no snow/rain on the green wood! Have a nice day all!
