Hey Guys, Just went into my stihl dealer today and noticed that the 441 C-M was finally back on the shelf. They were even offering a free pair of black chaps if you bought one as part of them being available again. Anybody know what happened and why they were not around for awhile? I picked one up prior to them disappearing and was wondering if they did some improvement or something that i missed out on.
I think this is good news. I could not understand why stihl would have a huge gap from the 362 to the 461 which is almost an 80cc saw. Most seem to agree that the 441cm is a very smooth 70cc saw.
The 441 is a good saw with some features the 461 doesn't have. That said it's the same weight as the 461, yet it's less powerful, more complex and not quite as reliable as the 461. The question I have is why did they bring it back? as it's soon to be completely obsolete with the 462 on it's way. Why was it pulled from the market? Who knows, I've heard several reasons from, slow sales to it was a stopgap measure in between the 461 and 462 and now they're just getting rid of stock. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Has anyone heard even a peep as to when the 462 is suppose to hit the shelves? I thought it was going to be in late September?
To add to the reasons, i heard it was a shortage of castings? But idk. Hasnt stihl traditionally had two saws around the same cc here? 044 and 046?
It has to do with how fast the old stock is sold out, when that happens you will see the 462. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
The 441 was still available in other markets, so I highly doubt it had anything to do with lack of parts. Yes it a seems Stihl has had a bit of redundancy in the 70cc saw lineup, I never fully understood it, I guess just different prices points. With the 462 having more power than the 461 and weighing in around the same as a 362, the 441 and 461 are dead in the water IMHO. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I've been wanting a 462 and I was hoping it would be fuel injected. Now I'm going to wait for a 500i. The 462 looks real healthy though.
Last month when I bought I walked in going to buy a 661. But put a 441, 461, 661 all lined up on the floor. Picked one at a time, went through the motions. Bought a 441, to me it had a better feel, and seemed a more centered balance. Some one pointed out that the 441 has a little different ergonomics. That the distance from the holding handle to the trigger is a little longer, than the other two. What I can tell you is the 441 feels better to me.
