I've burned probably a face but only cause I will light up at any chance I get. Should go through some this week with this weather pattern about to change down south
I started the heating season with just under a cord of shoulder wood. It will be gone in another week. Burning a lot of poplar and box elder, both of which are really dry. Good gopher wood.
Had that for a minute when I first fired the stove...forgot the Tstat was still set to AC...and then I heard it start up, I said "what the...?" oh yeah...better turn that off!
Maybe a cord, cord and a half? All pine and WILLOW (yup. Haha!) except a couple loads of 3yr old mixed hardwood when wind chill got below zero for a couple days. The occasional few uglies if I want to hold coals a little extra long. Pine is great for shoulder wood, but doesn't coal worth a damm for relighting when it's dry.
I know das'right! I won't turn my nose up at anything that's delivered, especially delivered already bucked and with help from the delivery man to stack the rounds. Made a good connection, too - we cracked a cold one after unloading his trailer, and he told me about a monster black Locust in the back yard he's planning to take down in spring. I offered help with towing a chipper over, processing the whole thing, and making all the wood disappear. Should save him some money on the drop, and I'll get a few cord of premium BTU wood out of the deal.
I just finished splitting and restocking my wood shed/tent/thing with a pickup load of standing dry pine my son and I brought home last week. I'm just about exactly where I was when I started, so I'm going to say 1/2 a cord so far this winter. It's a win win. The wood shed is full again, and I have an empty truck again.
...Cape Cod I love that. Realized that's what they might be called, in light of my association and proximity with the cape. Made me think of Radar accepting his invitation to Charles's parents summer home on the Cape of Cod. I'm there too, about 1/2 cord. Low burn so far this year. Helps with the 3 year plan.
